Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 250GB Hard Drive - 7200, 8MB, ATA-100, OEM

the only thing that displeased me about this hard drive was the way they shipped it - they just stuck it in the box with a single crumpled piece of brown paper shoved in there so the drive was rattling around loose, with no other protection.

Have this in my external drive very quite, fast, reliable, 5 year warranty. i would buy this product again!!

I just installed this drive in one of my personal pc's........easy install, fast, and bulletproof; not to mention, good pricing. Seagate is my recommended drive for new and upgrades.

I'm willing to excuse this as just bad luck on a faulty part, but it doesn't work. At all. I put it in as the slave on a computer to install XP on and got a wide variety of problems with either failing to recognize at all while knocking out the optical drives and other hard drive, too, or just failing to boot depending on the IDE cable I had it connected to. I tried it on my other computer as the slave as well and it stopped the booting of Vista on it, so same general problem. Will be sending back for a replacement and hope it does better.

I have not even received this drive yet and I am already wondering if I should send it back. Nothing was made very clear as to what type of system could use this drive, not to mention that the only image available didnt help either since you cant see the connection type that it uses. So now I am stuck with a drive that I can't use until I spend an additional $25 to $50 for a SATA PCI Controller Card and cable since it states there isn't supposed to be any of that in the box either. Yes, Seagate is a great drive, I usually have no problem with them but it would have been nice if this had been made more clear from the start. In the future, you might want to include a controller card with it, and include a statement that it is NOT EIDE compatible
