As a parent, I know how hard we try to give our children every possible edge in order to succeed in school. From time, technology, and even tutoring, we do whatever we can to help our children flourish and grow. So in order to give our children a competitive edge, I’ve compiled a list of the best learning-friendly technology money can buy!

Laptops: Parents: Your kid’s education is a mobile one-make sure they’ve got a PC they can take with them! There are three things that matter most when choosing your child’s computer equipment: Speed, Power, and Reliability. To give your prodigy’s studies that extra oomph, I recommend Dual Core Processors, 2 gigs of fast RAM memory, and 120 gigabytes of hard drive storage space. Desktops: Sometimes, even a high-end portable computer won’t cut it. To provide the kind of graphics and math-crunching power they’ll need for everything from engineering classes, chemistry, and graphic design, choose a desktop with Quad Core Processors. They’ll also need good graphics cards, plenty of fast RAM memory, and a ton of storage space. Take a look at my picks for the absolute best Desktop Boxes available!

LCD Monitor: With the amount of multitasking your scholastic achiever is going to be attempting, you’d better make sure they’ve got the workspace! Think of an LCD Monitor’s screen size as your student’s digital desk. Parents: Trust me on this, you don’t want to skimp on the display. I recommend 22-inch screens or larger. Do you want to give your student the ultimate edge? Go with a dual-monitor setup. The cost is worth the unlimited potential of two separate screens running on a single desktop. Check out some of my favorites below.

Smart Phone: Your children’s phone is more important than just keeping in touch. Smarphone technology lets them check their email, browse online syllabi, and even edit their term papers…all while they’re on the go. Plus, some of the best smartphones out there can even help them navigate their way around campus and collegetown, USA! Plus, let’s be honest: if you get them a high-quality phone, guilt-tripping them into calling their mother will be just that much easier. Here are the phones that stand out on my list!
SLR Camera: Your average Point and Shoot camera will do fine for Spring Break, but it they’re going to get ahead in architecture, graphic design, journalism, and a whole host of other subjects and disciplines, they’re going to need a camera that can accomplish the task. A Digital SLR Camera is the perfect thing to tip the scales in your future-grad’s favor. Help them take the kind of pictures you’re going to see in the paper (or at least the yearbook!) someday. They’ve got the talent, (as well as the hard work!) get them the tools they’ll need to shine. Check out some of my favorites below.

Ultimate Office Suite: Microsoft’s Ultimate Office Suite is packed with the very latest programs and features that will help your child get ahead. The newest version of Microsoft Office will let your young one accomplish everything from reports to web-based presentations and web pages that you could only daydream about when you went to school. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Is your student a shutterbug? Go big or go home with Adobe Suites. How about graphics design? They’re going to need some Premium Desktop Publishing Applications to compete, and I’ve got a laundry list of must-haves right here. Click here!
All in One Printers: All-in-One printers give your star pupil all the advantages of their own personal printshop, right at the corner of their desk. Print amazing pictures, reports, presentations and more. Scan images, patterns, and swatches that come together into the next budding masterpiece…just add your child’s imagination! When they’re trying to contribute to their study group (or just catch up!), being able to photocopy without missing a beat is an indispensable virtue. All-in-One Printers are exactly what your child needs to put their best work forward, whether they’re mostly math or majoring in Art, Humanities or Hard Science.
