I've been running this board for about 18 months now trouble free. My initial system was XP Pro. I just upgraded to Win 7 Pro. The only hitch is that it tries to boot off of the IDE drive instead of the SATA drive and fails to boot. Minor glitch to work out. The board is sound and was a good investment.

I have two of these, one running WinXP and the other FreeBSD 7. Both freeze up after a couple of days of running. I have tried changing bios settings but nothing helps. I will see the screen repeating ''disc not found'' messages on both machines. It appears that the motherboard reboots itself randomly and can't resume.

All I had to do is take the motherboard battery out for a few min and plug it back in. the bios settings it came with didn't support the 2x1gb sticks of ram enless you reset bios.

Apparently, after upgrading everything from the processor to Ram. This board is great im pushing around 150 fps on LOTRO max settings. Crysis Warhead max settings, 16xAA. Great Board, Running a AMD 64 x2 5600+,8800 GTS duel slot (640 Meg), 1000 watts of Power. Ive been running this board from December of 08, NO Problems! Great Board for the price i bought it for with my barebone.

REVIEW BY:  Reviewed  Jan 30, 2009
Bought it in a bare-bones it. It all went pretty smooth, the only thing I can think to complain about is the audio jacks are a little close to the pci-e slot, so when seating my 9800gt in there the heat sink bumped into the audio jacks. I gently pushed the audio jacks aside and problem solved. For the price it is hard to complain.

I have just installed this motherboard as a barebone kit the problem I am having that the tower shuts off itself it came with a 450 watt power supply can anyone help me solve this problem. The motherboard on board light is lite.

Great motherboard thus far. However, you will have to reset the RTC Ram on the board after installing it. If not, you will most likely end up with a blank screen once you power the PC. Also, keep in mind that the on-board video card will eat up a percentage of your ram, so do not be alarmed when you see you do not have say, a full 2Gs of ram when checking the PC properties. Thanks TIger for a great deal!

REVIEW BY:  Reviewed  Jan 22, 2009
Good overall board though one issue. I could only have one DIMM of RAM in at a time. It could be either DIMM but it would only work with one stick of RAM at a time. I tried different RAM with the same results. I contacted the Ultra tech support, told him what was going on and less then 5 min I had a ticket number from them to refrence with Tiger for a return/exchange. Overall, good experiance, minor headache. Hella cheap too!

Bought the AM2 M2n-Mx SE barebone kit, bought 4g of ddr2ram, new HD, geforce 7300GT 512mb pci express video card. Shipped very fast ( 2 days before actual arrival date ) got everything together and running with no issues as others have mentioned. Great buy for the price, can't wait to test it on some of the newer pc games.

This board is an excellent vaulue for the price. Equiped with many features. Update the bios when it arrives and you will have zero problems. I would recommend a nice Mini ATX case for it. The onboard video is good for basic use. If you intend to play games I would suggest purchasing a graphics card with its own seperate memory. The Onboard video uses 256mb of shared ram and slows your system down for gameplay. Most boards dont come with video so still a great buy. Just disable it if you add your own video card.

Awsome Board. Just go ahead and reset the CMOS after you install your memory. ASUS does not recommend 4 gig of ram if you are using Windows XP. I wish I had known that before I got the 4gigs.

I have 3 of these, my first replaced an emachine board. I used one 2gig module and it worked perfectly. I bought two more, one with another 2 gig module and the last with 2 2gig modules. the last one wouldn't start at times so I took out the small round battery and put in a new one. after that all worked great. I now have three of these boards and they all work great. the oldest one is one year old. I have never had a serious problem with asus and still have 3 400 mhz asus boards that work.

Really nice board for the money. yes, I had the problem where no video on POST, but just reset the CMOS/RTS (unplug, remove the battery, move the CMOS jumper over for 10 seconds, then move back, put back in battery0, then everything was fine. No problems since then, and it tests out fine. Works well with AMD 5000 processor, XFX 9800 GT video, and whatever RAM Tiger sent me as part of the barebones kit. I'm very happy, and would buy the MOBO again.

Same issue. Bought Bare Bone Kit.After assemble entire pc, PC turn onn fine, no Beep , no image in the Monitor. I thought It was a Power related Issue. After reading reviews here took one ram off and turn on and everything works fine. Weird Problem , Weird Solution. At least is working ....

Bought this as part of a Barebones kit w/ 2.6 Ghz CPU, 2 Gig RAM, etc. Although fans and DVD drive started on initial startup after build, I got nothing on the monitor. After reading several reviews here I decided to try it w/ 1 memory stick instead of 2. Computer immediately fired up, so flashed BIOS to 0602 with no improvement. Reset CMOS per MB Manual (with both sticks of memory installed), now it fires up with both sticks of memory in. Don't think the BIOS update was worth the time, CMOS reset seemed to fix the problem. It's also the less dangerous of the two procedures.

REVIEW BY:  Reviewed  Dec 27, 2008
Motherboard failed to boot once everything was installed. No POST or beep from the BIOS. Read on ASUS' site and other forums that there were memory configuration issues. Deduced the problem to having both memory modules installed at the same time (2x1GB Kingston). Either slot would work if only one module was installed. Cleared CMOS again waiting longer during CMOS clear (1 minute instead of 10 seconds) and also had both modules in during CMOS clear, system booted up fine. I think clearing the CMOS with BOTH modules installed was the fix. Alot of time wasted troubleshooting this board. Chas

Great MB for the price. The only issue I had was after putting everything together the comp wouldn't fire up. Reset the cmos with the jumpers as described in the manual and everthing works great now! Quick boot time and fast transfers between computers. Haven't tried over clocking yet but haven't really had a need to as the comp is fast as is! No bios update needed as of yet either. Overall, great MB esp for the price!

I got this board in the store front location in Orlando Florida. Only got it cause they didnt have the MSI board i wanted in stock. I build computers for freinds and co workers and have found that the asus boards are like playing russian rulette. This board is no different. I suggest if you buy one do a burn in test for 2 to three days so if it fails you can return it within the 30 day period. I had vid/aud/ram problems as others did (even with bios update) Took it back and ordered the MSI board i origionally wanted. NOTE TO ASUS:Ya might want to look into your quality controll.

Ordered this as part of a barebones kit. It was DOA. Tiger (great as always) RMA'd it and shipped me a new one 2nd day. Also DOA. Spent 90 minutes with ASUS techs determining that it was dead (plus all the on-hold time waiting to get to them). Finally just shipped it back and ordered a Biostar board. ASUS USED TO have consistently awesome boards. Not so anymore. 50% (8 of 16)of the ASUS boards I've purchased in the last 3 months have been DOA. Grrr...

First time I put it together it didn't run. Yet I wasn't discouraged and tried again. Second attempt it worked flawlessly and loaded up like a champ. Bought the combo with the 5000+ 2.6ghz Duo-Core Black Edition and this baby flies. Don't let the other reviews get you down because for this value the product is great. It also had no problems reading both of my ram chips at 800mhz right off the bat without even messing with bios.

REVIEW BY: bungfiglio Reviewed  Nov 02, 2008
Should have checked to see how many SATA connections it had before purchasing. It only has two which my hard drive and DVD burner connect to. It isn't a problem as long as I don't want to hookup an additional HD or CD/DVD. Also, the monitor didn't work when I initially connected it to the motherboard but I popped out the battery to reset it and everything worked fine. Overall a good product for the money but not state of the art.

Stopped recognizing my SATA drive only IDE. I don't know if this is the problem with the motherboard or the Hard Drive. But I'm not happy. I have had both IDE and SATA drive working with the IDE as the Master, after 1 week the SATA stopped working. Also to get the original setup (IDE&SATA) to work was not simple.

You will have to reset your CMOS when you first set it up, but the process is simple and only takes a few seconds. Rest of the board install was standard. Overall, excellent board. With the new BIOS revisions this board will support any processor less than 100 watts. This means the 95 watt quad core phenoms or dual core 6000+. You'll need to flash the bios first tho, which probably means starting with a smaller CPU. Be aware that there are only 2 standard PCI slots, so keep your upgrades in mind if you buy it.

Bought with barebones kit and after building didn't get any video. RMA'd the board and replacement board had same issue. After researching their is a bios issue that you MUST take out the mem stick from slot 1 (closet to CPU) leaving a stick in slot 2. After updating bios able to put in the second mem stick with out issue.

Great motherboard, but I ran into serious issues when upgrading to XP SP2. I purchased the motherboard to replace a failed board in my eMachines Celeron PC. I used my eMachines restore disks to get back up and running. At first the USB ports only functioned as 1.0, but I was able to manually install the 2.0 drivers to correct the problem. I then ran through a series of Windows updates. All went well until I upgraded to SP2. I got a blue screen and PC would only boot in safe mode. Two calls to ASUS didn't help and they didn't return my call. By searching the web, I was able to determine that the problem was caused by restoring an image created on a PC with an Intel processor to an AMD machine. One quick registry edit solved the problem, but it caused me several hours of grief until I found the solution. That's what happens when manufacturers give you restore disks instead of XP disks! Again, this wasn't a problem of the motherboard, just a software issue. My PC screams now!

Buyer Beware. First of all the board is so generic that the BIOS on it isn't even labeled, or numbered, so good luck updating it. The book says American Megatrends but my board shows no info on the BIOS screen to identify it. Oh yes, the user's manual is GENERIC, it does not even have the motherboards name or part number on it! -There's no way to set voltage, and the *nice* OCZ 6400 Plat Rev.2 memory that came with it limps. And then on top of it all, I find out that the board has a notorious bad memory slot problem, after I test and test and find my memory is good and either stick runs but not both. And the board has only 2 slots... I do not want a sorry excuse replacement mobo to run the other decent parts in the bundle I bought. I'm going to have to spend whatever it takes to do it right. I've never been so overall disappointed in a Tiger bundle in the 11 years I've been ordering from them.

This was part of the BAAREBONES KIT that was recently being offered with the 4400+ and 1 GB of 533 Crucial DDR2. I put 2 x 1 GB Corsair DDR2 667 Sticks. The RAM read/write speed exceeds 5000. On assembly, the system simply booted up and my pre-insatalled XP MCE and found all the Motherboard drivers, which are Nvidia Nforce 430 MCP, same as the Biostar NF61S (uses basically the same driver). The BIG DIFFERENCE here is that the Asus MN2-MX SE has a Full 16x PCIe slot whereas the Biostar NF61S only has an 8x Vlink, The ATI 2400HD/256 MB PCIe video card actually RUNS at 16x here... it is not as fast as a Geforece 8800, but what do ya want for a 40-dollar video card? And it Overclocks up to 580 MHz (425 MHz is common GPU Bus Speed). I hope there is a F/W revision soon, there are just a couple of memory settings I'd like to see in the BIOS, but it is a GOOD little microboard. The ONLY problem is that without RAM Heatsinks, they get HOT, and I had 1 Corsair stick fry, when I had OC'd to 5%

PCI Express - Delivering Dramatically Improved Graphics
Doubling the bandwidth of the AGP 8X graphics bus, the new PCI Express represents the most profound change to desktop architecture in nearly a decade. PCI Express replaces AGP, allowing much larger amounts of data to move between the graphics card and the CPU, and will soon replace PCI expansion slots as well. The PCI standard allows for a 32-bit bus with a maximum throughput of 133MB/s. By contrast, PCI Express will run at 2.5GHz. PCI Express is a two-way serial connection that carries data in packets along two pairs of point-to-point data lines, compared to the single parallel data bus of traditional PCI. Gamers will benefit from an incredible upgrade in video quality with PCI Express, because it will allow for more powerful video cards, inspiring developers to create more realistic environments that will make games come alive with astonishingly lifelike colors and images. Video enthusiasts will also benefit because PCI Express will accommodate higher-quality video throughput (amount of data you can send per second). As network television moves over to HDTV broadcasts, PCI Express positions the PC platform for integration into the living room, while also allowing for HD video editing and other bandwidth-intensive tasks. PCI Express is compatible with existing PCI drivers and software operating systems and is designed to co-exist with current PCI hardware.
