Bridge Your Ethernet Network With Power Lines!
Have places in your home you'd like to network but can't get cabling there, wireless a problem for you? Well, let us introduce to you the lastest generation of HOMEPLUG Networking from GigaFast. This technology allows you to extend or even build your network on your home POWER LINES. No other cables to run, just plug into your PC and plug into the wall throughout the home. This technology was recently acclaimed in the July 2002 PC World magazine as the "Most Promising Newcomer" for networking.
The GigaFast HomePlug Ethernet Bridge operates on the HomePlug Powerline Specification
1.0 standard, providing up to 14Mbps bandwidth over home AC wiring. Since the
home power lines are the most pervasive medium in households with multiple outlets
in every room, the HomePlug Ethernet Bridge allows multiple home desktops and
notebooks to be networked to share Internet connectors, printers, files, and play
games without any additional wiring.
The installation of the Ethernet Bridge only requires that a 10/100Mbps Network
Adapter is installed on the computer. This makes the HomePlug Ethernet Bridge
compatible with any device including Mac, Windows, and Unix machines.
For security, all GigaFast HomePlug devices are equipped with 56-bit DES encryption.
The private home power grid plus encryption makes HomePlug significantly more
secure than competing technologies.
The GigaFast HomePlug Ethernet Bridge is the best solution for No-New-Wires
home networking. With easy Plug and Play installation, no need for new wires,
and the reliability of GigaFast Ethernet's product, the GigaFast HomePlug Ethernet
Bridge is the best solution for high speed networking.
What is a HomePlug node?
The PE902-EB can operate in two modes : Node and Bridge
As a node (unit used to connect directly to PC), only one computer can
be connected to the PE902-EB, and software drivers must be installed on the
computer.
As a bridge (unit used to connect different locations on existing ethernet
network from a router or switch), a switch or router must be connected to
the PE902-EB and the remote computers are connected through those units. This
mode does NOT require software driver installation.
A HomePlug network can only allow two PE902-EBs to operate as bridges (connecting
two points of the ethernet network) at any given time on the same network.
However, there can be any number of PE902-EBs operating as nodes.
