Stormchasing Laptop
I purchased the HP 8460 for stormchasing. I am running Baron Mobile Threat Net radar and stream live video to the internet using Microsoft Encoder 4. The lap top has a dedicated fire wire port which connects directly to my chase cam. I added 16GB DDR3 RAM, which was easy to put in as the 8460 does not use screws to open the back. The 8460 has a solid feel and build.

Not bad for the money but def wanted a lighter one
This laptop is pretty basic,ok for the price. When i got it i felt like it was hevier then i wanted and a little bulky. But it does have a good battery life so thats a plus

Elitebook is a good product
This machine just happen to fit my needs and is one of the last of it's kind. I needed an express slot in order to slide in Sony SxS cards from video cameras. I also needed USB 3.0 connectivity and it was a plus to get esata and firewire as well. The machine performs well overall. One small issue I have is the screen isn't as clear as my old Acer, but it isn't bad. But the main issue I found was that my SxS cards have a little plastic edge that prevents the card from sliding all the way in. This never happened with my old Acer. There is zero fudge room with the Elitebook. To solve my problem, I had to grind off the plastic edge. Now they slide in fine, but limits me to using only my cards. I'm sure HP had no idea that people might use SxS cards in their Elitebooks. Also, it would have been nice if the machine had an HDMI output. But for the price, I am happy with the machine. It is rugged and performs nicely.

just what i needed
Having paid a little less than $550 for this computer, it was a bargain. more than that though i am using this computer to edit video using Adobe Premiere Pro. I added 4gb of Ram to increase the total to 8gb and it renders like a champ. the computer is very responsive when editing in Photoshop as well. the non-glare screen works well. all in all i would say this is one of the best notebook computers out there

Great business machine
Bought this for a health care office, since we travel between two different locations. Lightweight, rugged, and powerful enough to handle Quickbooks and our practice management software. A huge speed boost over our old computer.
