This product is recommended by Buffalo for their Linkstation Pro Duo and it provides massive storage (6 TBytes for this unit) for my NAS needs.

The baby rocks.
I needed a large drive for storage (not for OS or programs) and one that would spin down when not in use. this works great, Initializing took two tries, but that was my bad, I was in a hurry and let the drive be partitioned, instead of a single volume. More a windows 8 thing.

Great drive and works with just about ALL computer
I have put these drives in machines ranging from an old Socket 478 P4 machine on up to a Brand new I7 machine, and it works in every one of them. Just know the FACTS before ordering. You can't use in with Windows XP 32 bit, you can't use it to boot from in Windows 7 (64 bit) if you have a BIOS system instead of uEFI and still use all 3TB and cant boot from it at all on Windows 7 32 bit. The easiest and best support for this drive is with Linux. It's a snap to format in Linux, since it has much better support than Windows systems do for GUID (GPT) partition tables and 4k sectors. In Linux, you can boot from it and use all 3TB even on 32 bit systems.

no problems here
do the research before making the purchase and complaining about it when you don't know how to use it. read up on using large (2.5 tb and up) drives and you will have no issues with this drive i have 3 of them installed in my media server and have no issues whatsoever... large storage, quiet, and run very cool shouldn't have any issues for a long time...

Needed to look up how to format for my computer.
Was initially only able to see less that 2TB but after reformatting am using the entire drive. It would have been better if the drive came with the information required to get it working properly.
