Great unit for the price

We have owned other Tom Tom units that did not have the Lifetime maps. These units were only slightly more than the cost of one year of a map update service. We bought two of these, one to give to our daughter to use in the college town that she moved to, and one to replace a unit that died after years of service. It took over an hour to download and intall the newest map but went off without a hitch. These units are considerably faster than the older units. They pick up gps signal quicker and calculate routes quicker. Internal media space does not allow for much choice for different voies or other features, without adding an sd card, but that is the only negative I have found. Would buy these again in a heartbeat.

Not bad for the basic user

This unit is great on directions but leaves a lot to be desired elsewhere. I travel for work and use the features of the GPS to find resurants, hotele, etc. These features are not user friendly and do not give the best results. Other than basic functions features are dificult to find or use easily.

best product for the money

I know there are more expensive units out there, but the XL330S has a lot of them beat for price, ease of use, and lifetime map upgrades. I have used it quite a few times since I got it, and have not had any trouble at all. A friend has a garmin that he paid over $400 for and could not believe what this would do.

Gets the job done

This is a good GPS device. It gets you from point A to point B and it's quite user friendly. The Maps Updating process is annoying, however. Mulitiple error messages keep coming up each time you try to either back up the device or install a new map update to it.

Fairly Good Product

Had to call CS several times to get the life time maps operating. After first attempt device dumped all currently installed maps, problem turned out to be that (according to TOMTOM) the device could not be set up with lifetime maps by the consumer, however CS did set it up on their end, and I have had no further problems with the unit. For those having issues with the lifetime maps make sure you kept the card sent to you with the unit, that is the only way to get the problem fixed.

After a call to customer service it's now perfect.

When I first opened the box and turned it on, it was in German. Called customer service and they where able to help me,also had trouble acquiring satellites but a download on their web site fixed this. Now it works great.

The Lifetime MAPS question????

I have had an issue a few time's over their GPS's. Recently, many seem to OFFER Lifetime Map Update's. However, at the bottom, they offer FREE update's ONLY within 30 days of sale???? I've emailed them and asked for an explanation & their explanation was as garbbled as the thought of offering FREE Lifetime update's, but you get Free update's within the first 30 day's??? I emailed them back & let them know that I was MORE confused then I was before their reply.. How do you have FREE Lifetime update's, but limited to the first 30 days for FREE update's, ALL in the same ad??? Is it me or am I MISSING something???

So far this TomTom has done it's job. Would recommend to others.
