Did I get a bad one!!
It restores itself DELETING ALL DATA!!! Installed office 13 for windows 8 it rebooted and started all over again from scratch on the first boot menu where you choose your color scheme and user name!! Horrible PC!!! Taking it back ASAP!!!

Works great for the price
I was using an old laptop to run my TV and entertainment center. When it died, I wanted a cheap, stable desktop. This works great for streaming all kinds of video and Netflix. This will work great for home and student applications. It's not the most powerful, and will bog down if you try to run too many intense programs on it. Also, I like that this has an HDMI out. Very few budget desktops have that. It's a pretty good deal.

great deal
still trying to get used to operating system keyboard has already malfunctioned so I have to go back to my old keyboard which doesn't have all the option buttons for this operating system

wish I had done my homework!
in 2012 I bought a Gateway DX4860-UR31P -- great machine. my husband needed a new CPU at work and I saw this Gateway at such a good price I grabbed it. But technophobe that he is, I didn't think he could adjust to Windows 8 so I gave him mine (with Windows 7). I wish I knew then about the difference in processors! This one is considerably slower, the machine comes LOADED with junk, the CD drive is so loud it can wake the dead, and I found Microsoft Office 365 pretty awful so I wound up having to purchase 2010. This is probably a fine machine for someone who doesn't need it to conduct business and use a lot of business software simultaneously, but I wish I had known then what a difference a processor can make.
