Great camcorder, but
This is my second HD camcorder, The Sony HDR-CX500 was my first. I loved the quality of the HDR-CX500 video, especially the low light video in auto mode. I purchased the Canon HF G10 to upgrade to a camcorder with more manual sittings. The Sony HDR-CX500 was limited. The first thing I did with the HF G10 was to shoot both day and night video in difference sittings. I notice that the auto mode video at night was grainy and the daytime colors was off. The manual daytime video was clear and sharp with great color. The night time video in manual mode had to be tweaked a little, but the results was great. The HF G10 is abulky camcorder, but feels good in my hand. The price is a little high, but the HF G10 features are worth it.
