Cheap solution

This is a good, cheap, solution for anyone who happens to have a free USB 3.0 port and some drives which you might want to get some data off of in a pinch.

Doesn't Work, Not as Pictured

The item I received while claiming to be Sabrent USB-DSC7 does not look like the picture shown on the website. I decided to give it a shot anyway. Upon connecting my hard drive according to the instructions, it made a clicking noise, the light flashed, then a minute later died. I'm afraid that the adapter may have fried the hard drive. Like I said before about the item being not as pictured, maybe I received some cheap knockoff.

Not so good

Bought this to replace a broken adapter. Very glitchy connections, both USB and power. At first I thought I had a bunch of bad drives, but I noticed that I was getting connections on them when I retried test. All of the drives I tested were PATA, seemed to work OK on SATA drives. The only positive note was that it included several adapters for the power connection and I liked the short SATA cable included. My other one required you to plug power and data in an inconvenience configuration.

Very Fast File Transfers and Backups

Performance wise and ease of use wise, this unit has met my expectations for a USB 3.0 experience. This unit allows very fast swapping of hard drives without the need for inserting your SATA HD into an external HD case. The only downside is to make sure to unplug once you are finished with the hard drive because it will get hot without a case. Just put on a cool surface. Please be aware that if you are using older OSs that getting USB 3.0 drivers that work might be a challenge. If you have a Win7 based system or HD Boot up disk, you will have no problems.

Poor connector

I found this pretty useless since the connector is such a loose fit on the drive contacts that the slightest movement causes it to disengage. I finally had to use tape to secure it to the drive.

This is the best device i ever got.

I've tried all sorts of HD docking-stations and this device is the fastest thing and best performer i ever got so far. i have a couple of solid-state disks and many many regular HDs all over the place and this Sabrent thing is rock-solid. Speeds are incredibly fast with both NEC and ASMedia USB 3.0 chips. We tried it with older Macintosh OS's and it also worked flawlessly, even with Mac OS 9.1 and USB 1.1, and it's real fast when using it on a Mac with Crescendo upgrades. It's actually crazy fast. It really depends also on how good you are at tweaking your OS's and how good you can configure them, that is if you are not using a Windows OS. Don't expect faster than USB 2.0 speeds if you don't get solid state hard disks. The problem with speed is the hard-drive, not this device.
