I put this card in a 9 year old Dell Dimension 4400 I give it a 5 star works just fine The old card went bad and this fixed the problem

I have use the GA311 and was happy with it. I order another one for a computer I have. The GA311 is easy to install and have work every time.

Nice Netowrk Card- works with Linux

Bought this network card for my old Pentium 3 Linux machine and Ubuntu 10.04 recognized it without any problems. Install and setup was simple and so far I have not had problems.

Netgear Gigabits are the best. Super Performance means no waiting for anything to load. You can never go wrong with a netgear product

What's the difference

this networking card is fine. I can't imagine it has something that another one doesn't. however, when running OS 7, there aren't drivers for it, although it card works fine. You just have to deal with the system telling you there is an issue.

Do not buy for 2003 server

I tried to install on a Win2003 server and none of the supplied drivers would work, and the support website doesn't have Win2003 drivers either. It never mentions what it is compatible with on the box. After spending hours searching for a solution I found a user who used the realtec 8169 driver. This allowed the card to work but only at 100mbps and not gigabit. Replaced the card with a different brand and the server works fine now. This card was a total waste of time.

Great Dsl card, works great !!

I too had some issues about this card being detected as the GA511 vs the GA311 when using install disk. When I tried to update to newer driver, as nearly every product of box needs, I found there was nothing really available from Netgear. Using the web site PCPitstop and my Driver Detective program I did eventually install the GA511 driver. Using 6 wks flawless, speed increased vs onboard NIC.

Bought 3 of these when they had some refurb. cards for 9.99 upgraded 3 XP PC's along with Gigabit router. Smooth and fast, definite improvement for a home network file sharing from a central gigabit NAS. All 3 pc's can be using video files with no glitches, movies stream smooth and fast. Great,using for over 8mts. No problems, thanks.
