Waste of money

I purchased to use in my Win7 computer since I had a sound card (Creative) in my XP machine and it was not compatible. The front connection for the headphones don't work. It was advertised as plug it in and it will read the front audio panel. It didn't. I am now looking for a Creative sound card. Works OK for sounds in my games, but the sound card on the motherboard sound just as good.

Headphone AMP is great!

Smart people read reviews before buying, so consider the negative ones but I bought this for my office PC, where I can't have a 5.1 speaker setup with booming audio.... what I can have is the clearest, crispest amplified headphone output, with Dolby Headphone processing to boot! If you're in my shoes, and primarily enjoy headphones, get this. It is the best $30 I've spent. If you expect this card to perform magic tricks, you should look elsewhere.

Card does NOT work as advertised

This card has been one of my most frustrating tech purchases. I needed a card to output 5.1 through an optical digital connection for playing back movies. I was leery of this card after the negative comments, but the advertising said it does it. So I bought it and SURPRISE the card with its included drivers doesn't output 5.1 through digital. You have to use 3 separate analog stereo outputs (2 mains, 2 surrounds, sub & center) to get 5.1 This effectively renders this card USELESS as a multimedia card. I found a third party driver that fixed the digital problem, but caused CPU utilization to skyrocket and again make the card unusable. AVOID THIS CARD!

Very Happy

I have the PC feeding into a Yamaha receiver, and the improvement after installing this card is night and day. Previously it was difficult to crank up; now it has way more power than I will ever utilize. The many software applications will provide the perfect sound choice for everyone's personal preference.

Do not buy!

Driver tray panel application locks up computer when running XP. No new drivers on ASUS website. You can run with base drivers only, but then you cannot set the Front Panel jacks to AC97 or HD. Very serious issues. Do not buy.

Nice Quality With Nice Price

Bought this to replace my integrated audio, at first was having trouble getting my 5.1 speakers to work, but was told by a friend that I had to disable the integrated one on the bios to get it working, and it did. Very good sound quality works 5.1 on all games and YouTube.

Plug & Play

this is a simple plug and play sound card that replaced my realtek onboard sound that died on me... so far this works awsomely.... the software is surprisingly good (too me) for the price and everything is as it should be .

Right on!

Right on for the price! It's all one really needs...Your not dealing with Hi-Fi audio any more. Highly recomended!

2.1 channels over Optic ONLY Be aware!

I wanted something to support Dolby and DTS over Optics but I guess I should have researched a bit more. Other than that, very good card with good quality sound.
