Does the job!
I live where it never freezes but it drops into the 40s and 50s for a few months. This heater makes enough difference to extend the usefulness of my gazebo significantly. I also have a big gas patio heater, which without question produces more heat, but at much higher cost, and of course I can't use it under canvas, or at least I'm not willing to try the experiment! A few reviewers have complained that the amount of heat from this device is insufficient. Let's do a little arithmetic. Your ac power is 115Volts. This heater is 1,500 watts. Divide the power by the voltage and you get 13 amps. The breaker on that circuit trips at 15 or 20 amps. The manufacturer can't make it produce more heat than your house circuit allows. Try lowering it. Mine is 30 inches above my dining table, and it works fine. It's simple, elegant and effective. Everyone around the table gets their fair share of heat. If it's right for you, buy it. If not, buy a gas pole furnace.

Love the heater
This heater hangs from a beam in our screen porch. It looks great and throws off decent (but not propane-like) heat. Be sure not to hang it too high and, if you need an extension cord like we do, be sure to get at least 14 gauge.

looks great, works well but not too hot
Happy to have bought this well made product but it doesn't put out much heat on a cool, zone 4 early summer's-fall night. Buy at least 2 per area. The quality of light is subdued and pleasant and it doesn't seem to attract many insects.
