Monitor light dead after one year

Product was purchased for my Mother-in-law a little over a year ago, and now the monitor is dead. Probably just the light, but after only one year is a little ridiculous. While it worked, I understand the unit worked really well. If you buy this, get a squaretrade warranty on it just in case. Going to cost $200 to fix a $500 laptop. Not good.

Good deal for a 17

This is the best priced 17 inch laptop I found that had a decent processor, hard drive space, and ram. But I recommend upgrading to 8gb ram, it makes a huge difference. The plastic border around the screen seemed to be a little loose on one side. Like it was maybe taken off and didn't quite fit as snug when put back on. Also, with 17 days left on my warranty, the hard drive has crashed. Fortunately, I use it for recreation more than work so I didn't lose anything too important because I did end up having to wipe my hard drive clean and reinstall with recovery discs from HP at no charge. They are prepared to send me a free replacement hard drive if need be also. Overall it is a great performer up until the hard drive crashed. I am going to extend my warranty at least for another year for $129. Seems worth it though now. UPDATE: Hard drive crashed again....thankfully I had purchased a one year warranty or I'd have had to pay a few hundred bucks.

Good product-but!

I have had this for about nine months and it works ok.I felt it was running slow and having used the tool icon that tells you how much memory is being used and the percent of processor. I say that more times than not it was using over 90% of the memory. Things would lock up or go so slow that it gave the appearance of being frozen.

Looks like it wasn't re-furb'ed enough

Within the first half hour of owning it the screen started to flicker and finally blacked out. I had to reboot and the problem seemed to go away, but then once again... flicker and the screen went black. I only used the laptop for a total of 3 hours and had the problem showed itself 6 times, what a pain. Not a very good deal,

Love it

I bought this computer to do my school work. Once i started working on it, I was amazed. Now I do my work at home, my school work and my entertainment all on the same laptop. Much more than I thought I was Getting. THANKS

Do Not Buy

Got this computer 2 months ago, and was very happy. 2 months later, the left hinge on the screen broke

HEMI? No, but it does have a killer fast processor, great picture and nice overall build quality. This laptop has been everything I expected and more. I had a large Toshiba laptop that I ran hard for years for my work, doing desktop publishing, graphics work and office productivity. This is half the weight and smoking fast! If you're looking for a small light portable, this isn't it. But if you want portability combined with desktop power and entertainment capability on the go, this is the pc for you. The only weak point I found is the sound. It is not loud or deep through the computer, unless you have external speakers or listen through headphones. Then it is great. It arrived looking new and works flawlessly. It came with the wrong battery at first (standard 6 cell instead of the 9 cell) but HP replaced that in a day. Very satisfied with the pc.

Great computer

I have owned this model for only one month but so far, it exceeds my expectations in looks, design and performance. I did price this very same model through the manufacturer of this computer and the salesman there, stated that he could not come close to the price that was offered here. I was impressed.. Now, I just have to road test this model to see how the compoenents hold up over time. Well worth the purchase,, I do feel that I truly got a deal with this computer.

Nice laptop

We bought this laptop for my wife who didn't want to spend much. I knew she would not like the smallscreen on the laptop she wanted to get, She said she didn't need much power, but she wanted to be able to do work and watch video on it. I opted to buy this instead and she loves it

This computer is very fast and has great memory. It's everything my old HP dv6000 wasn't. Not to mention NO VISTA!!! I was told to try this site from some of the guys in my dads computer dept. I love those computer geeks. The prices and selection can't be beat. The computer was packaged very securely. Couldn't be happier.
