SB1270 is a great sound card!

I have been using SB cards for 20 years and this one is impressive. The front end LME49710 opamps with 0.00003% THD give excellent performance. Tests with RM6 were exceptional. The software worked fine but wish I could remove unused channels from view in the Creation Mode. For those just starting: remember to disable your onboard MOBO audio in BIOS and Device Manager. The quality of the sound is only as good as what you plug into it and what you listen to it with. Yes, the box is fancy but couldn't have cost more than a $1, shows the pride SB has for it's products. Very satisfied with this product. Thanks Tiger.

Terrible Software

The sound is great but the software doesn't cut it. I'll buy Asus next time because the glitches in the software are a pain. Switching to the game modes kills the mic on my headset rendering it useless for gaming. Only works if I leave it on Entertainment mode.

Creative Labs X-Fi PCIe Sound Card

This card is great in the sound department. My grip is i have great 5.1 Cambridge Soundworks Sound System that is not compatible with this card and its single output jack. (Very Disappointing) I almost want to give it back. Another problem is the record jack. I have Windows 7 and a Gigabyte EP43-UD3L MB. Very up to date and still with all the examples have not been able to record via the mic jack. Please Creative , your patch did not fix this.

Nice sound, but you are paying for a lot of flash!

This sound card is undoubtedly a great sounding card, but after receiving it, I realized where much of the cost comes from... It has ''cadillac'' packaging, the card has an annodized aluminum frame, and the front of the PCB has a smoked-acrylic cover over it. I'm sure without that stuff, you could easily cut a third off of the price. I use it only for music, and frankly, I have had other sound cards (at a fraction of the price) that sound just as good. Like me, if you buy this card, you may wonder why in the heck you spent THAT MUCH on a sound card, but it will work quite well.

Audiophile's Dream

I have this card running to two monitor M-Audio speakers and its brings out parts of songs you wouldn't hear with on board audio. Warm highs, sharp mids, and solid lows. But where this really shines is with the built in headphone jack, when you hook up a nice pair of headphones to it you will be immersed in a sound stage you could only dream about. Great audio card very happy with my purchase.

Clean Sound

This card is easy to install and reproduces all levels of sound at a high quality. I listen to Pandora throughout the house, on the computer speakers and home stereo all have been enhanced with a rich, vibrant and clean sound.

Verrrrrry Nice

I had priced and was about to buy an X-Fi Titanium when I saw this card, though for a higher price. I'm glad I bought it, as it has been awesome. The sound is rich and bright and the tools for tailoring it to my needs and speakers (Logitech Z2300) bring out the best of my set-up.
