Works great

this product runs great, you can watch video, read ebooks, surf and use a large number of android apps.

Piece of junk

the docking station will only record ONE channel in Canada -- the recording feature is actually designed for EU. you can't even root this device. save your time, save your money.

Excellent value, good features

Have had about a dozen Pocket PC's over the years, & this one is clearly the best. Excellent value for the money. Has very nice set of features. Large screen is wonderful. Resistive touch is less satisfactory than capacitive, but works OK once you get used to it. External dock with battery worth getting - doubles battery life for travel, & has USB & S-video connectors. All-in-all, very satisfied with this. Only things that would make it better for me would be Android 2.3 & a capacitive touch screen -- but then the price would be a fair bit higher!

It does what I wanted

I am using it as a music player and a photo viewer. The radio tuner didn't work at all and froze the device several times. I wasn't that interested in it so I stopped trying. WiFi is weak sometimes it connects often it doesn't. it's not compatable with Adobe so listening on line isn't an option. I haven't and may not purchase a micro SD card to see how well the GPS is any good. Also there's a charge for the GPS function. I don't know what it is or even if it's a onetime charge or a subscription fee.

Not a great buy

I wanted to buy this tablet because it had a larger screen than an IPod touch but was still more portable than an IPad. The touch screen is not good. The processor is very slow. It is not always easy to wake it up from it's sleep mode. I am disapointed.

Caveat emptor

The actual construction of the product seems decent, however it is the features which I found disappointing. I was disappointed with the lack of Flash and hence the inability to view many videos on the internet. Given that this is marketed as an Internet Tablet, I would have expected this functionality to be present. Silly me. Before buying, I didn't realize that the GPS was only a 7-day trial. Silly me. The Dual OS functionality sounds interesting, but as of right now there are no links leading anywhere from the company website. That said, if you aren't expecting any of the above, you might find some value from this unit.

doesn't live up to hype!

unit is painfully slow on internet, if you can get it to connect at all. on screen keyboard is hard to use. I would not buy again.

Honestly, not worth it.

Have to admit, really wanted to jump on an Android tablet. A couple of friends had the 101 Archos and liked it enough. Still a little immature though. This one though has issues. emitted a buzzing sound a good bit, also locked up constantly, even after re-flashing software.

The archos 5 works well fiarly easy to learn. The disc for the gps didnot work. I called archos directly and they sent me a new disc free. OK Dave

Pay Attention to Your Needs

I had the Archos 5 recommended to me by a friend who thoroughly despises Apple products when I told him I was looking at an iPod touch. Overall I liked it, and it met most of the wants I had in the device. Although the full app market isn't immediately available, there are several apps available to choose from. The only problem I ran into was my college has their network set up so only devices with Android 2.0 or later can connect. Archos isn't planning on allowing the Archos 5 to upgrade to Android 2.0 as of right now. I know to many people this may not be a big deal, but it is something to keep in mind in a college or work setting. Luckily I found out within the exchange period, so I have a different model Archos on the way.
