Does the Job
I live in a micro-apartment with only a hot-plate for cooking and went through two double solid-top hot-plates in one year. I purchased this single burner hot-plate, along with an electric frying pan as replacements. This hot-plate way out performs my two previous sealed-burner ones. The old ones took about 25 minutes to boil a 3 quart pot of water for noodles -- this one takes half that time, and it gets hot enough to cook a good steak. It is easy to clean, compact, and very light-weight. Also, the housing is made of enameled metal, which I prefer to the hot-plates with plastic housings. I have used it about twice per day for the last 8 weeks and it still works and looks like new. Finally cooking is fun again.
