The Right Tool For the Job!!!
When I decided to move over to an SSD in my older Dell laptop, I needed a good cable connector to go from the USB port in my computer to the new SSD. This Vantec Adapter worked flawlessly, letting me clone a 500 GB hard drive to the SSD in about 2 hours.

Good for SATA, not IDE
Description seemed a little misleading, or maybe I didn't realize SATA came in 2 varieties, or I didn't read it well enough, but this is only for SATA connections - not IDE, which is what I planned to use it for.

It works just fine, what more could I want?
A friend of mine gave me his laptop after the Mobo got fried, but he wanted his pictures and music that he had saved for over 2yrs. I ordered this adapter to copy the files to my computer then burned 12gig of music & photos to DVD as I save the HDD to build another computer.

Worked as advertised
Used to copy hard drive to SSD for replacement. Quick and easy to set up and use. (Did not try USB 3.0 but look forward to doing so)

Works as advertised
Just plug it into a power outlet, then connect up the desired eSATA HD into the unit and the USB (v2 or SuperSpeed v3) wire from the unit into your computer, and then the HD is accessible. Simple, and works as advertised. Can be a lifesaver.

Power Adapter DOA
This is a mediocre, bulky product. The kicker was the dead power adapter. I was able to use an old one from an obsolete answering machine to get it working.

I had 3 old drives in dead lap tops It allowed me to get all the files off all of them and i even can use the drives as backup's
