Great Case!!

Took a WD 640GB hard drive out of an HP Slimline that died. Super simple to install: take the case apart, pull out the electronic board and plug it into your hard drive, slide that into the case, install the screws, close the case up and plug into your existing computer via USB. Everything works great -got access to my old drive imediately, allowing me to get my personal files back. Took about 10 min. start toi finish. Would recommend to anyone.

Generally Satisfactory

Case fit my 750 gig Acer hard drive like a charm and has performed well. Assembly instructions were a bit confusing. The mounting holes were slightly off and I had to redrill one. The screws supplied were really cheap and one head broke off. No spare screws were supplied. Overall, I would buy this unit again based on the low price. Holes and screws were a minor aggrevation.

Bad PSU

The enclosure works like a charm. That is, until power brick for it burnt out. Only had it for a week

Confused!

I thought this would handle any capacity drive in todays availability. When I received it, on the box it stated up to 2TB. I tried a 3TB in it and it seemed to work so I am confused. What determines the capacity of the hard drive?

Great product

Hey guys, I just wanted to give you some positive feedback . I just had a WD drive fail - but it had a lot of my good data on it. I went tothe company and bought a Ultra Leatherex 3.5 drive enclose, hooked it up and voila! I got my data back. Super simple and it works well. Great job.

Great Product

Works great with 3tb hitachi drive, no issues. Great cheap price.

Was able to retrieve files

Bought this when my hard drive crashed. Installed hard drive and was able to retrieve all my files. Came with its own tools and was easy to install hard drive. Did what I wanted it to without breaking the bank. Now that I have retrieved all the files, I'm going to use it as an external hard drive.

Not as fast as I expected it to be

Not anywhere near as fast as I expected it to be my Ultra USB 2.0 - E-SATA enclosure has a better transfer rate using the E-SATA connection than what this USB 3.0 connection has. I was under the impression that USB 3.0 was to be a lot faster than any SATA - E-SATA connection but all I have seen is slower performance out of it using the same hard drive in both enclosures. I'd have to say if you're already using an E-SATA connection just stick with it instead of trying a USB 3.0 connection.

DOA

Upon arrival I tested the drive connected via USB 3 to an express card, and it wasn't recognized. Then I tested it with a regular USB cable and it wasn't recognized. I have another cheap enclosure that accepts the 3TB drive and it shows up on the macbook pro with the right capacity. So, either this enclosure was dead on arrival, or it just can't actually be used to connect the 3TB drive to the mac as I had originally requested.
