Loud fan but works great
I combined this with the air duct to keep the processor nice and cool. Works great so far. The fan is loud but not louder than any other server you would find in an enterprise-level environment.

Watch for bent baseplates.
I have two of these on an 1nte1 S5520SCR motherboard. One CPU (E5620) was running up to 20 deg C hotter than the other. When I took them off, I found one had a warped baseplate that prevented it from fully contacting the CPU. This was the hot one. Also, these emit a high pitch squeal when operated at 100 pct fan speed. These have very powerful (1.2 amp) fans that spin at high RPM. These also are Xeon mount, that means they attach to motherboards with LGA1366 M3 threaded baseplates. They do not come with an adapter for i7 motherboards (holes instead of threads).

Works fine, just loud
If you're building a server to be used in your house, this is not the one to buy. It definitely has a higher pitched sound than other fans. The sound is very noticeable at idle and if you're doing some heavy work, just think what a dell rack server sounds like. Buy the Noctua heatsink and fan instead. I can't even tell it's on and I have it on the highest rpm.
