Works great - volume control a bonus
I was looking for a presentation remote that also had a volume as I watch videos on laptop while running on treadmill and wanted to kill two birds with one stone. I am very happy with this unit even though it feels a little flimsy, I find the features are more than you find on units 5 times the price. I love that I can set a play list and skip ahead and back in video as well as go to next video or change volume. Great bonus too that it works flawlessly with Linux RedHat 6 as well as Windows 7.

Works Great
Just got this presenter and it works perfectly. Works well with PowerPoint and Movie files. Small and therefore somewhat flimsy but easy to operate and never misses on a slide advance no matter where you point it. Can also adjust sound which is a bonus. The laser pointer is very powerful.

Works under Linux
Took a chance on this remote being compatible with Linux but I'm glad I did. The remote appears to be HID compliant because it worked under Linux as soon as I plugged in the receiver. The media buttons: volume, mute (middle X button), play-pause, previous and next, all map to XF86 media commands under Linux. The white arrow buttons map to Page Up and Page Down. The Slides button maps to F5. It doesn't look like any of the buttons can be (easily) remapped, but I bought it primarily for the media buttons anyway. I tested the remote from 20' away line of sight and it could probably go further. The ability to hide it in the ExpressCard slot means I always have it with me. An excellent product especially at it's current price (29.99).

A must have for presenters
One of the best additions to my tech equipment, easy to setup and easy to use. It was like turning on a light in a room.

Very nice but
This is very nice little device and the idea of having it fit into the mostly never used ec slot is brilliant. In other laptops, I've seen this device lock into place to where it's flush with the laptop case, just like the blank insert for the ec slot. In my laptop, however, the presenter remains outside the case a little less than .25 inch. Not perfect but manageable.

Good for PP but nothing else
This remote integrates flawlessly with one program with perfect plug and play. It's tiny and the laser pointer is powerful. However, the primary purpose we purchased it for was to run our church worship software. The software has its forward and back buttons assignable as 4 different configurations, none of which pick up on the prev next slide buttons or anything else. Having the ability to assign what the button presses do on the remote would have made it MUCH more useful.

Sleek & Functional
I previously owned the Interlink Presentation Pilot Pro but after using it for several years I realized how little I really used the mouse function. The HiRO is a huge upgrade! No more lugging a separate remote around with my laptop - fits perfectly in the expresscard port. Battery life has been excellent, and the remote feel is pretty good despite its tiny size and my big hands. Just wish it didnt cost so much! Overall this has been a great product.
