Long term owner, this is a good deal

I purchased my projector in October of 2009. Used it for about a month and the picture went out. I called customer service who told me I would have to send it in to get it fixed. It had a bad motherboard. Optoma fixed it and I had it back and in use in less than two weeks. This projector has been a wonderful addition to my basement theater room and I would recommend it to anyone. The price is right, the picture quality is great, the noise level is good, it has been in service for almost two years and I would buy another one without hesitation.

DO NOT BUY

I bought an HD20 in Novermber 2009. About two weeks after I got it home, the bulb went out. Since it was still, of course, under warranty I was able to send it off to Milipitas, CA, to have it fixed. In April 2011, the color wheel went out so now it sounds like a weed eater when I fire it up. Not to pleasant when watching a movie. Now, less than 1.5 years later, my $1000 investment makes an excellent paper weight. Should have gotten an LCD, Mike Egan Arlington, VA

Didn't last long

Lasted 6 months before it stopped working completely. Not exactly easy to take advantage of the warranty either. Works well in a darker room. Make sure mount matches with projector as what was recommended didn't fit right.

Never Buy Optima

The hours are grossly exaggerated on bulb life. I purchase an HD72 some time ago, the model has a defective driver, because it fools you into thinking the bulb is out. So you end up buying more bulbs when in fact its not the bulb. The driver which they replace it with is also defective so you'll get the same defective part meaning your projector will last maybe another 400 hours or so.

very pleased

I upgraded to this projector from a 720p Panasonic and I'm very happy with my purchase. The unit powers up quickly, isn't noisy, and the picture quality is just spectacular. Using a PS3 on HDMI, and a Yamaha receiver for DTS Surround, my movie experiece is top notch. The only minor quibble I have is that there is no focus lock, which means that when replacing the lens cap you frequently bump the focus and need to refocus when starting up again. Aside from that - very happy with my purchase.

Don't even hesitate! Just BUY IT!!!!!!!!

Absolutely flawless! Best bang for the buck ever. There is no reason to hesitate on the HD20. I researched it for weeks, compared and contrasted with others of similar quality and finally purchased. All I found out was that I wasted time before buying. This thing is FANTASTIC! Image quality is bar none, and I'm certain that 99.9% of all buyers will be more than satisfied with the image set up as is right out of the box. For those of us who are more techy (like myself) there are PLENTY of features to adjust it just right. But until I played around with the adjustments I still thought it was fabulous. BUY THE HD20!!!!!!!!!!!

Decent projector for price

SO far have had the projector for about two months and seems to be working as expected. Easy to set up and get started fairly quickly. Picture is as good as anyone would need. Are there better projectors? YES but not for the same money.

Couldn't be happier

We just got this projector a couple weeks ago and I don't regret one penny buying it. I knew it would be good quality but after hooking it up to a bluray player and how huge I have it projecting - 14'3'' x 8' - it's still crystal clear. I would recommend this to anyone looking to getting a projector. It's so beyond easy to set up anyone can do it. Extremely user friendly, perfect quality image, great price, everything just amazing.
