encryption is next to useless

Holy cow the performance with volume encryption is horrible! This despite that level of encryption supposedly being hardware based. Out of the box it was delivering 0.8 MB per sec writes over gigabit Ethernet. The management software claimed no firmware updates were available, but eventually I decided to google, and found one to download and manually apply. That gets me 4 MB per sec writes. Sometimes.

Excelent product for home use

So far it's been really easy to use and it took an hour to do a backup of a 100GB of data over a 1GHz lan. Don't use the web interface while it doing a backup or rebuilding the disks, its painfully slow.

crashes all the time

bought this 1 year ago, so maybe they've made improvements since then. Supports NFS which makes it good for ESXi connections. Unfortunately, I have to do a hard reboot every so often. Also, a couple of times, it failed to see the raid volumes for no reason at all. Overall, will not buy again.

Decent but flawed

Well I have to admit, it sure is a looker. I runs great off the, I had a couple problems with it's Processing and Network traffic allotment. Failover NIC aggregation is the most you can get out of the dual-nics. You can only set, one or the other, nic. It only allows 2 or 3 clients to connect at maximum simultaniously because the little processor can't handle it. When you're transfering data to the system, it's impossible to navigate web interface on it. It's a great system otherwise. I probably would have been happier with Qnap NAS. I rate this a 3 of 5.
