Mine works fine. Fast, clean, no problems. However I discovered that if you add 2GB memory, like others have done, BIOS recognizes it, but the OS only recognizes 3GB. This is documented on the mfr web site. Probably not a big deal for XP anyway. Vista might be more of an issue. |

I'm a network engineer and am very technical. I bought one of these to replace an aging PC tower for my father.
The first one seemed ok at first but after 3-4 days it suddenly went from being fast and fine to slow, then started to hang, and finally blue-screened. After that, it wouldn't boot anymore. Clearly a hardware issue and hopefully just bad luck.
The second unit had other issues. First, whomever packed the box did a poor job. The mouse was CRUSHED at the bottom. I've got extra mice so this alone wouldn't be a big deal. But then, the keyboard wouldn't work with certain keys, like |

Fits most of the description of the machine I was looking for. Would have liked a recordable DVD drive and maybe some more RAM (an extra 2GB might solve some minor problems), but for $250 US this machine is perfect for what I'm doing right now (job hunting and balancing books - know anyone who's hiring?)! Great machine for the money!! |

I received my IBM 8215 with a few scratches on the top cover and no rubber feet. I couldn't get the refurbished XP software to load the serial number, the screen said no hard drive found, I had to plug the hard drive cable back in. Afterwards it worked, the cooling fans are quite and it loads up pretty fast. I would say it's reliable heavy duty computer, That's why I like it. |

Needed another computer but I wanted to stay with Windows XT. Gave the IBM Thinkcenter off-lease machine a try. I am very happy!. Machine has a small 'footprint' for a desktop unit. This machine is VERY quiet. I have since added 2 additional gb of ram and access was quick and easy. I also added a card reader. CD tray sticks before completely closing and needs a 'nudge' before disc will read. Set-up instructions were very basic, even still, I was online without any problems. When I have an extra minute I will lube dvd tray rails with a swab, but the issue does not cause me any concern. This unit is a great value. |
