very good card for the money
ran out of sata ports and need more for extra hard drives and dvd burners. and this works great. got mine really cheap.so i cant complain.

Doesn't always work
I had a 250 gig Samsung SATA drive about five years old. The card would not recognize it. I switched connections so that I had a new Western Digital 500 gig SATA drive connected to it. The card recognized this drive and has worked fine since. The card's tech support could not explain this odd behavior.

PCI Converter Card - IDE & SATA
This worked great! You must load the software on your harddrive to get it to work; worked on my 160GB IDE Segate, but didn't work on my 120GB Maxtor hard drives. I don't believe it supports booting up(?) but works great as a data drive, etc.

Plugged in. No issues. The only problem was the metal strip didn't line up with my case, so I had to unscrew it. But plugged it in, ran the driver, ready to go

Worked great, right out of the box
win 7x64, phenom x4 with biostar board. went right in, its bios came right on on first boot. windows found no drivers, but the provided disk had them. ran setup, rebooted, and the drive came right on. Used to add a thrid and forth port for sata. great price, shipped quickly, worked right away. very pleased.

Terrible Driver Build
JMicron controller driver issues. Windows driver works, but no hot-swap. JMicron drivers BSOD!!!! If you need hot swap capability, find another card! Also reports wrong hard drive specs to bios. Windows 7 Ultimate X64

Follow up review
I wrote a good review for this card earlier but I forgot I did have a slight issue as did someone else I saw in another review. The IDE port is backward. IDE cables are 90 degrees, so when I plug the cable into the card it turns toward the MoBo. There's no problem with the fit unless you have another card in the next slot, then there's no room for it. Just seems the designers would've taken this into consideration. Maybe they did and considered something I didn't. But it's not an issue for me, just thought I'd mention it in case it's an issue for someone else... I don't need the next slot for anything. Yet!

Once you get it installed, it's great
It took a while to install it in Win 7. The bios recognized my old IDE drives but when I tried to install Win 7 it wouldn't install from the CD because Win 7 needed drivers. Finally had to transfer the drivers to a USB drive to install Win 7, then after that had to install again in Win 7 with the same thumb drive for my OS to recognize the IDE DVD and HD. Alot to go thru to save a few bucks but well worth it till HD prices go back to pre-china flood prices.
