Good product
I have Win XP SP3. The adapter worked perfectly first try. No adjustments or Bios changes needed to me made. It would have been nice to have two SATA connections, but I got what I paid for.

Best of the best
My BIOS not read my new sata HDD 500GB when the connection were in the one of four sata portes at main board. This litle converter works very well, go for it if you have the same problem.

You may need a power adapter for SATA HD
Works great. I did need to order a power adapter for the SATA HD since my computer only had the Molex 4 pin power connectors. Couldn't get XP to boot off the drive once security updates were current. Installed Linux to keep this computer going. Everything works fine now.

Not working
I plugged the device into the MB IDE and connected the drive and I get nothing? If I go into the BIOS the IDE setting is set to Auto. At this point it just plain doesn't seem to work.

No problems so far
Had to replace a broken IDE hard drive (in a Dell Optiplex GX260 no less) but the stores only sell SATA drives. Found out I needed a converter board, tried this one. Came with all the parts I needed except the power cable splitter. Crammed it all inside, set up my computer, and the new hard drive is working great now.

I'd Give This a Zero..But Can't
I am upgrading a computer for a friend and needed a SATA to IDE converter. I hooked it up and nothing... Perhaps if I wanted to go IDE to SATA? On the positive side it arrived much sooner than expected.

Easy to hook up and comes with everything you need to go from ide to one sata port. use it with new sony dvd burner that i also got from this company, Works very well.

Not reversable
I bought this adapter to connect my old IDE drive to my new SATA only motherboard. One of the reviews here says you can connect it to your hard drive and then connect the drive to a SATA port. It does not work. Vantec does not list this device to do that. Use the SIIG SC-Sa0112-S1 ($16) for this purpose.
