Great item for price
Player has great picture quality therefore i think its a great buy for the price since its made by Pioneer.Only thing i dont like is it takes a while to start up when you connect it and notice that cooling fan stays ON when player is OFF.Overall its a great brand for good price and has great picture quality!

My last Pioneer product
I have noticed a distinct lack of quality in Pioneer products since 2000 and this Blu-ray seals the deal. Bought it and set it up to replace a PS3 which worked perfect, did not change anything at all. I updated the firmware on it to the newest per Pioneer instructions - everything seemed okay but it would flash white on the screen during playback every so often. The player is also quirky about booting up sometimes and ejecting the disc. The problem is in the internal circuitry, it's just built like complete junk. I do not trust Pioneer electronics and wouldn't recommend to anyone - look elsewhere for a quality budget Blu-ray player.

Great Picture at a Great Price!
I bought this player back in September of 09. The quality of the picture is unbelievable both with the Blu Ray and standard DVDs. I now feel why waste the money on the expensive Blu Ray disc when the upscaling turns out such a fine picture. There are two reasons why I gave features at a lower rating. Number one the tray take for ever to open. Number two is is that the control buttons are the same color as the unit on mine. The picture on the web page seems to have light colored buttons. It may be possible that the manufacturer changed the button colors. Any how its a great player and I highly recommend this unit for its picture quality and bang for the buck.
