Excellent product. Great price.

It works great. I was reluctant to load the 64 bit version and now wish I had. Will probably reload soon, so the software can see all 4 gig of my ram. Otherwise, excellent product.

Compatibility issues

Went from XP Pro to 7 Pro 64. Transition was tedious but resulted in decent function except that an error message about a faulty or missing ntoskrnl.exe file. On research this is a boot-up error. Is avoided by leaving the OS install disk in the CD. Being worked on. Otherwise it is fast and just annoying to have to reinstall or reregister all my software that is not compatible and load new drivers.

easiest upgrade ever

This was the easiest upgrade I have ever done. nothing lost plus system runs faster too.

Pricer then I expect, but good product.

I had a nasty virus and issues with my 5 (or 6?)year old computer running XP that required a reinstall. Rather than reinstall I figured I would install 7 especially since I heard good things about both 7 and about IE9 (which does not run on XP). I tried Vista and hated it, but I really like 7 it seems much more responsive than XP and I like the look and feel of the interface. Of course the performance gains might not be as great as they occur since after running any Windows operating system for years they all tend to slow to a crawl. It has been a long time since I upgraded a Windows operating system (since I did not want Vista) but everything went smoothly even though no upgrade path from XP to 7 is available. I am disappointed that their are 3 different versions of 7 for sale. In the past upgrades I have done (last one was ME), one version existed at one price. The upgrade price of $199 seems high to me.

Win 7 64 upgrade GREAT

I upgraded from win vista 64 to win 7 and it has made a big improvement on my laptops speed and stability, was no issue even though i had vista home premium and not pro, went smoothly no issues.

Windows 7

I bought a new computer with Windows 7 and I HATE it with a passion! Just when I was getting fairly well adjusted to Windows XP, Microsoft came out with this! What was the use? My feelings are, if something aint broke, don't fix it! I'm going to wipe the hard drive clean and install Windows XP Pro!

What Vista should have been

Every time I use Windows 7 I like it more. Great service from here as usual. Be aware of the license issues with MicroSoft.

hard to install

The installation of this product was terrible. I wanted 64 bit and thought I needed to install 32 first. Found out I just needed to install 'custom' MS has done it again, made something that should be simple, quite hard. Also rearranged just enough to make using it an initial challenge.

Really no need to upgrade to Win 7 from XP

No 64 drivers available for my hardware (like a Zebra thermal barcode printer, a barcode scanner pen, other older hardware that I WILL NOT THROW AWAY just to humor Microsoft). My XP software does not run on this, or runs with many problems. Installation takes a whole day, due to constant compatibility problems. Win 7 is only useful if you buy a new printer (with new drivers) and new software for it. Be sure to add the cost of replacing all your hardware and software to the price of the OS ( over $2000). This product is irrelevant in the face of Windows XP. Absolutely no need for it (or for Vista). AND you cannot run a dual boot with XP which is utterly arrogant of Microsoft. We tell our kids not to follow hype and peer pressure in school. All that Win 7 has is hype and peer pressure. Nothing worth the price it costs.
