The Yamaha DVDS661BL DivX Ultra DVD Player has all the latest features for high quality and source compatibility, including HDMI interface, HD JPEG playback and USB direct connection. With the Yamaha DVDS661BL DivX Ultra DVD Player you can take advantage of the basic DTS Digital Surround 5.1 channel sound format. The DVDS661BL uses a higher data rate than Dolby Digital.

Features
- HDMI
High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is the first and only digital interface to combine uncompressed high-definition video, multi-channel audio and intelligent format and command data in a single digital interface. HDMI switching, providing the most advanced method of delivering high quality video signals to a home theater system to enable the reproduction of DVD and satellite TV sources with HD quality. HDMI can also send the digital audio signals from sources such as DVD Audio, CD, Dolby Digital and DTS to provide simple components connections.
- DVD Video
DVD is essentially a large capacity optical video storage media that contains movies or other video content for home entertainment. DVD has become the standard for video publishing by most movie and video studios.
- CD Digital Video
DVD Players equipped with CD Digital Video capabilities will be able to play video and sound media that has been compressed together and recorded onto a CD disc.
- Video CD
DVD Players equipped with Video CD capabilities will be able to play video and sound media that has been compressed together using the MPEG 1 standard, and recorded onto a CD disc.
- Dolby Digital

- DivX
DivX is the video compression codec developed by DivX Networks and based on the MPEG-4 compression format. Short for MPEG-1 layer 3 audio, MP3 is a compression process used to shrink audio files by filtering out all noise that is not detectable to the human ear. MP3 is considered near CD-quality, but the file itself occupies approximately one tenth to one twelfth the space of the original CD format, making it the perfect medium for today’s smaller, memory based portable media players.

This player does the best job of upconverting standard DVDs that I have yet seen. And I have seen Philips (very good), Pioneer (OK), and Panasonic (OK).
Simple to use, simple to set up. Can play 4:3 aspect ratios properly or stretched -- whichever your choice is.
You'll be pleased.

I called yamaha and they had no clue how to hook up drive or if the usb port will power the device. I wanted to use a 2.5 drive or solid state and it did not work. I can buy same at WMrt for 45.00. I am disappointed. |

It is great.
Mostly I use this with hard drive connecting thru USB for dramas without DVD disc. It is great, I don't need to change discs.
But I think it should have got searching or Fast Forward or moving function on the hard drive. thing. |

I purchased this, like i do most my electronics from here I actually ordered the 1080p model. They sent me this model and charged me the more expensive. Good news it only took 2 days to get it to NY. The quality is great and i didnt even notice till i checked my order staus 4 days later that i got the 720. I have a 500 gb external with a few hundred movies on it all set to go via the usb port. Only problem ive found is when you view the titles to watch, you get only about 10 letters of the name to view so if you have Indiana Jones 1-3, you see Indiana Jo and thats it, makes it hard to see whats what. If they fix that, the quality gets 5 stars. I'll review the 1080p if they can ever get it to me... |
