i just got it today and it hooked to my computer no problem and it plays dvds but no sound and thats one of the main reasons i got it was to watch dvds on my netbook |

Purchased about a month ago for use with a new netbook which, of course, has no built in optical drive. The drive is lightweight and has a small footprint, thus highly portable; and is USB powered, so no bulky AC Adapters to tote. You'll need two available USB ports, preferably side-by-side, if this unit is to be adequately powered. Went with this brand rather than an off-market brand because of the name reasonably known for quality, and the price which was tough to beat. The accompanying software is about as basic as it gets, but seems to do the job if all you're doing is copying or burning CDs and DVDs. A good product at least so far, after a month's use. |
