Dont Waste your Money

I have used a different brand of this dock for years. I will preface my review by saying I own a computer shop and have transfered data from thousands of computers over the course of 9yrs. This dock is junk! The concept is awesome, dual bays accomodating 2.5 or 3.5 drives. I have had nothing but issues with mine. The transfer rates are not great, the drives loose comms and power. Overall I could not recommend this to anyone...even my competition..lol

Does the job - mostly

Bought this to replace the iOmega 2 bay that failed after a few years. Setup out of the box took a minute (figure out the DIP settings). Then it just worked. One nit is that sometimes when the computer (iMac OS X Lion) waked from sleep the drives show as mounted and can be read, but not written. Have to dismount the drives, power off and on and then everything is fine. (dismount and re-mount via disk utility does not work). Other than that, no issues. Speed is nominal for an external USB drive at about 31 MB sec (write to: 1 GB in 32 s).

Junk

I unpacked it and with the hard drives installed saw the power light blinking. Then the power transformer started smoking. Total piece of junk.

SATA Dock

Performs exactly as expected. This is one of the few docks advertised which did not include the claim of HOT SWAP. One improvement suggested for a heftier power transformer. I have experienced dropouts and reconnects on one or both drives when copying from one bay to the other.

Solid and Reliable

Great deal, very sturdy dock. With two drives, it operates on either a quick JBOD RAID. Side rails look a little flimsy, and no eSata, other than that, top marks!

You Can't Go Wrong With This One

I've had Mine now just shy of 6 months, I keep it running 24 7 with 2 hard drives continually transferring data UP and Down, back and forth and not so much as a hiccup from this product. I gave the Quality a 4 star only because they could have done a better job on the way it holds the hard drives, they tend to be a little floppy whereas I feel they should hold firm in the unit.

Data transfers done easy

Bought to transfer data from a soon to be dead hard drive to a new hard drive for a computer. Plugged in and it worked immediately with no problem in Windows 7. Used Disk Management to assign a letter to the old and new drive. Formatted the new drive and then transferred the data using Paragon Partition Manager with no problems. Only problem I have with this is the drives have too much wiggle when seated.

Works perfectly AND the best price !!!

I have 3 of these with 2 drives in each one. They work perfectly. I have all three docks with 6 drives up and running 16 hours a day. 1 500GB, 3 640GB, 2 1TB SATA drives. I've never had an overheating problem. Each drive has it's own drive letter. I run Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. They're GREAT! But the kicker is,,, they are the lowest priced dual docks. I may get three more....

Spend a little more for something better...

I bought one of these docks and when I plugged it in it wouldnt even turn on. I had a second one sent out, which turned on but would over heat the hard drives and turn them off. I would stay away from this brand
