An amazing camera with an amazing price. If buying refurb worries you, pay the extra money for the extended warranty. You are still paying $600 less than what you would have paid for this camera if it was new.
Lightweight, expandable memory, great lens and mic inputs make this camera great for any event. |

This is a great camcorder for beginners and advance users. You will need a extra battery if you want to record more than a hour. The software that comes with is not the best but it works. Took me couple of days to figure out how to convert videos to standard playable files(select the file and go to file menu than export..). You will need a fast pc or mac to edit the HD files. Auto focus can me pain SOME times but not big deal. 12x zoom is more than enough but if you need more you can buy telephoto adapter(TL-H37) And transferring files can be confusing to beginner user(so make sure you read the Manual) |

I've had this camcorder for about a month now and have seen no signs of it being refurbished. It seems brand new to me. The video quality is amazing, and the build quality seems very solid. Even the still pictures are great, and it's nice to have a 12x zoom for stills.
The only reason I gave only 4 stars for Features is because of the horrendous software package that Canon supplies with this camcorder. Essentially it doesn't work at all. It locks up every time you attempt to do anything on my computer, and when searching for help online I found that it is not just me, but rather it seems like the norm. This is not such a big deal to me, since I planned to use a more powerful editing package than what would come for free anyway, but it's worth a mention because it's literally the most unusable software I've ever come across!
Overall I am VERY happy with this purchase! |

When I got my camera, I could not get it to charge, so after talking to two different customer service representatives,one which promised me to overnight a new one free of charge, while the other one didn't. I finally got the replacement camera the next day, and same problem, battery wouldn't charge. Note that both had the wrong colored battery, they were both silver. After being completely frustrated with the situation, I called Canon and they agreed it was the battery and sent me a replacement and it has worked fine ever since. So I ended up losing a bit of money on shipping the first camera back and also the battery.
I gave the quality a 1 star because of this issue and I'm classifying the Performance as how well it performs and overall features.
