Works SUPERBLY with DELL

I have DELL Precision 690 workstation which I had tried various other eSATA controller cards with. This one allows the use of an external RAID5 unit (also STARTECH)and for now, the 2nd port is used with a Seagate Drive. Even DELL sells this card! Superb value.

A great solution

I purchased this car to go with a StarTech SAT3540U2E External Hard Drive Enclosure I had also purchased. I was able to install it within minutes and I was up and running immediately after closing the computer case. After rebooting the card had no trouble recognizing the external hard drive enclosure. I was also able to stripe two of my drives and the speed over the eSata connection it's fantastic. I'm using this setup for video editing.

Works great!

I had to get an eSATA connection as the USB port broke on my external drive. I checked online with HP to see what accessories they used, they had a couple of StarTech products listed. I liked the slimline adapter, which is why I chose this card, they were the only company that offered this adapter to fit my PC. This was the second card I'd bought, having returned the other, due to the large bracket not fitting the first time. Once I installed the card, Win7 loaded all the software and I was able to retrieve all of my photos and videos of my grandkids in a relatively short time. I had to go from a 750g to the new 1tb hard drive and it was a very easy and quick transfer. It went fast enough for me, I just didn't want to loose the photos and videos of my grandkids! I would recommend this to anyone needing to recover their data with ease.

Does the trick on Server 2008 R2

Needed to add Esata to a poweredge server running server 2008 R2. Worked well once i ogt the right driver. This card has a sil3132 chip, get drivers from silicon image if required. The disk supplied only has generic drivers for many startech devices that do not work on my os, lost a star for that.

MacPro 8cores, it works

Installed easily and work as expected with he included OS 10.6 driver. Of course no Raid hardware in there but plenty of value for the price.

I own two of these

StarTech is a great place to find those hard-to-find cards that people who build and repair PCs always need. As the headline states: I have two of these. The first I purchased about 9 months ago and after being very happy with it, when it came time to expand, I didn't hesitate to get another. They are easy to install and hardly take up any room in the machine. The only improvement would be to add an internal port, but those are available as another product. Bottom line: I'm very happy with this and will look to StarTech again.

good product

works well custmer support is great was running 3 way sli no esata ports removed center for 2 way left me with a pcie 16 slot and a pci slot checked with support said there would be no problem running it on the pcie 16 slot on my board works well a little slower than i expected but is good would buy again

Fast and Easy

I set this up with external HDD docking device using the eSata port on Win 7. I'm running 4TB of hardware on one eSata port and am delighted. The setup was simple and straight forward for this card. But you do need to get the latest drivers. A word about copy speeds in Windows. Microsoft recommends their command line copy utility, Robocopy, when moving large amounts of data. Drag and drop just doesn't work well with large files. The software algorithms are just not fast enough to move large amounts of data effectively. This card works very fast with these utilities.
