Detailed Features
A Closer Look
Features
Shoot telephoto (up to 26x optical zoom), wide-angle (26mm equivalent) and macro (as close as 1cm) with the SP-590UZ.
Dual Image Stabilization combines Sensor-Shift Image Stabilization with high ISO sensitivity and fast shutter speeds to capture crisp, clear images in any situation.
Face Detection automatically focuses on your subjects' faces and optimizes exposure for sharp, brilliant portrait pictures.
With one click, take several shots in rapid succession. With a burst rate of up to 10 fps (3MP), you can freeze moments to capture your shot.
Pre-capture automatically archives ten frames (3 MP) as soon as the focus is locked to capture the perfect shot.
View photos on your HD-TV in sharp, clear hi-definition. The HD output lets you connect your camera to your HD-TV using a single HDMI cable.
Captures three images and stitches them together to create one amazing panoramic picture by simply pressing the shutter button and slowly panning across a panoramic scene.
Using a live, multi-frame window on the LCD, Perfect Shot Preview lets you view the effects of various settings and then select and capture the perfect shot.
Shadow Adjustment Technology helps you capture scenes exactly as you see them, even in difficult lighting situations — perfect for outside shots in bright sun when dark shadows are prevalent or shooting in backlit situations.
The 12 million pixels in the high-resolution CCD create superior image quality. Create large prints without losing a single detail.
The Manual, Aperture, and Shutter Speed Priority allows full manual control settings for advanced creative shooting, yet it's easy enough to point-and-shoot to automatically capture beautiful images.
Smile Shot detects a smile on your subject’s face and automatically fires off three consecutive shots to capture that perfect smile.
With improved contrast and color reproduction, the 2.7 HyperCrystal II LCD offers a more accurate, precise image display as well as an extra-wide viewing angle and enhanced visibility in direct sunlight.
Beauty Mode lets you smooth a person’s skin, removing unwanted wrinkles or blemishes. Additionally, make subtle edits, such as slightly emphasizing and brightening the eyes, with a new post-capture feature: Beauty Fix.
Use the new Soft Background Focus mode on your next trip to a National Park. It enables you to slightly blur the beautiful vista, lake or canyon in the background to accent the majestic wildlife in the foreground.

For the price this camera is wonderfull.I bought it mainly for the outstanding zoom lens as well as the price.my only complaint is that the camera body is made out of plastic,I suppose that is to cut costs and reduce weight.the camera must be held steady or you can get too many blurred photos.
Great camera for the value

This is our third Olympus camera. We have an E500 DSLR and one of the small point and shoots. We love them all...for what they are good at. We use the big DSLR for serious photo shoots and macro work. We take the small camera to parties for candids and stuff like that. For our 14 day trip to London, we wanted something with more optical zoom and high resolution. This camera fits right in between the two we had and was fantastic for our trip. We took over 1600 pictures (we had two 8GB cards) all at full resolution. The "night" scene is great but you have to make sure the camera is totally still or it gets blurry. (tripod on the new millenium footbridge still shook too much to get a clear picture). It is a bit bigger than a point and shoot...but a lot less gear than a DSLR setup. The wide angle is just fantastic for panorama shots too.
Highly recommend this camera if you are looking for something more than just candids but don't want to drop a grand on a DSLR setup.

I have had several point and shoot digital cameras. This is by far the most versatile. I highly recommend it to anyone who has an interest in photography beyond simple snapshots.

This camera is great. The only problem is when you zoom all the way out the picture is not clear but it will focus and hopefully take a clear picture. Have not really went anywhere to try the zoom. It is also bigger then a normal camera but I guess if you want a large zoom then you just have to live with the size. Overall great camera and it has a lot of great features.

MEGAPIXELS AND PHOTO PRINT SIZE
The
photo print quality of your images depends on the camera's "megapixel
rating." The higher number of pixels your camera has, the higher the resolution
(or sharpness) of your images---and the larger your prints can be without
quality loss.
Digital Camera Flash Storage
Capacities
* Average file size
using cameras highest resolution JPEG mode. Actual number of
photos, songs, and minutes will vary depending on camera/device model,
format resolution and compression, usable capacity, and bundled software.
Actual usable memory capacity may vary. 1MB equals 1 million bytes; 1GB
equals 1 billion bytes.
NUMBER OF IMAGES STORED ON A DIGITAL CARD The number of
pictures you can take varies depending on your camera model and complexity
of the scene being photographed. To calculate how many pictures your card
can hold, divide the capacity of your card by the average file size of your
images. For example, if you have a 256MB card, and use a camera that has an
average file size of 1.2MB, then 256 divided by 1.2 gives you approximately
213 pictures. As you change modes on your camera, the number of images will
increase if you shoot in a lower resolution mode, and decrease if you shoot
in a higher resolution mode.
Contents of package may vary from those pictured and stated here,
due to changes in manufacturer's specifications or merchandising.
