If this package had email alerts, it would make it 100percent complete. As it is now, if you are not home and burglarized, the burglars will simple steel the security system and all the evidence with it. Email alerts and email video would at least give you time to call the police and catch them. Emailed video would preserve some of the evidence offline on the internet in your pop3 mailbox. Perhaps in a firmware upgrade, this feature can be added.

You get what you pay for. I purchased this product because of the price. And sure enough, I wish I had spent a bit more for a quality system. The hardware seems to work fine. It is the software and manuals that are of poor quality. The manuals are written in broken English. Especially the pdf that came with the cont software. It also fails to explain the abbreviation it uses and that are seen in the software. For example, there is a setting of which you have two chooses, NC, NO. The only reference in the manual says it to pick either NC or NO. No mention of what NC or NO mean or the consequences of picking one over the other. This is typical throughout. Also, there is no way to delete the data files off the hard drive unless you reformat it. The fat client CMS interface software is different than the browser based and they do not have the same functionality. If it had better software and readable manual, I would recommend this system enthusiastically.
ordered this product and only received partial shipment. NO cameras came inside the triple boxed package. I couldn't test it out at all. Had to return it. I still have received no notice of reimbursement for the product or the extra shipping charges!!
Excellent system for the price!

In response to the previous review by spiderlady, the manufacturer's website includes full .pdf documentation - including a 'Connections Quick-Start Guide' and an 'Internet Monitoring Quick Start Guide' - which both include very clear, concise information (INCLUDING diagrams!) for all the hookups and how to run the software. It can't be any clearer! Simply go to the 'Click Here For The Manufacturer's Product Tour' link above (just below the product description on this page) and you'll find all the documentation you need!

The monitor is great for a small B/W. The cameras were more than I expected including being able to view things with the IR at night. My biggest complaint comes with the documentation. Directions to get things up and running were not clear. No where was there a diagram of what to plug in to what! The software to run the program to view online requires some time and thought... and more time to get running. Backing up the hard drive is SLOW!!! I still cant figure out if Im doing something wrong. I figure Im just going to swap out the drive. Viewing remotely again, hard to figure out. directions arent the good step by step type I would prefer. And I dont like leaving ports open which is required and all of the ''allows'' in my security. I tend to view my recordings and then re-set my security especially the open ports. But I must say I am mostly happy with the package and would probably buy another Q-See item.
