Shrimpkin I would love to see you build a Core I7 setup for $1000.. cause if you had any computer smarts you would know you can't. This processor is a bit slower and I own both so I would know. Deffinately though even without the tri-channel memory yet, this is still a rock solid processor. I have a thermal electric cooler by Ultra on it and I hit 4.4GHZ stable and that is with air! My Core I7 won't go over 4 with air cooling. So for the huge difference in price I would still highly reccoment the AMD Phenom over the I7 any day. Save yourself the money and invest it somewhere else because the difference in speed is not even noticable.

Well the cpu itself is fine fast oc's well and runs cool enough. This and my last order that I ordered form tiger I got the 2nd day air with both orders and both orders took twice as long as the basic shipping. I'm just wondering wgats going on with Tiger I've never had a problem with them before. But I pay for 2nd day ait I would like to see it before 5 days goes by.

I'm not here to knock amd, let me start with that first. But comparing one of these to a ci7 is like comparing a caddilac to a mercedes. they are both luxury cars, and no one would turn down a free caddy. But if you had the money would you not buy a mercedes? Anyhow, I build and sell custom pc's. Since i'm selling them i don't care if they are amd or intel. I build whatever is most affordable which is usually amd. HOWEVER i swear, numbers must lie because the slower clocked intels are way speedier than the amds. Its a FLAT OUT noticable difference without needing benchmarks. My buddy bragged about his faster clocked amd, only to come over and see my pc is still faster using intel mobo's and cpu's. And like I said all his speeds are faster, ram, cpu, fbs, but mine is noticably faster when using it. I can't explain why. Theoretically his should hands down be quicker all the way around. Neither one of us Over Clock.

Reviews are not for arguing, enough with the fanboy crap. Great processor. Great value. Still prefer intel, personally, but that's just me.

Ok Asus does carry a DDR3 paltform for the X4 :) good try. also I would like to add intel is not a true for the sake of arguement 4 core. There are still only 2 main ports that share 2 processors. Your still running process thru only two pipelines. AMD has four true CPU pipelines ....
Intel better luck next year..

ok so i haven't got mine.... yet
but to shrimpkin
first ok so you can overclock a i7 to 4ghz on water stable..... how do you feel about 5ghz on this cpu stable? or even 6ghz? IT CAN BE DONE!!!! ad is wayyyy less than a i7
second yes as of now no tri channel boards give it a couple months
third there is no way you can build a good i7 system for $1000 a good mobo along with the i7 is at least $500 or more then you have to get a case, power supply, hard drives, disk drives an os
so no

To the guy below me. He doesnt know what he is talking about at all, to me it seems like he likes to blow money, which not many of us can do in this tough economic time, so more power to you! This thing can perform just about equal to the Ci7 if you know what your doing, which apparently he doesnt. I will admit it's not as fast as the Ci7 but its just a tad slower, not enough to blow money on to have a slight increase you can barely notice. To me it sounds like this guy just bought the Ci7 to later find out he could of got this and save money. Before you bad mouth something realize you couldnt get your Intel for so cheap if it was a monopoly, its good there is competition to keep prices down, others overlook this and want to throw there money away, heck, if u want to do that, i'll take it!!! GREAT PROCESSOR!! Keep the competition up and the haters hatin!

Very fast, very reliable, very affordable. But, to everyone who says this smokes the Core i7, sorry but... no, it doesn't. At the same clock speeds the Ci7 will outpace the X4. Yeah, a 3Ghz X4 may be cheaper than a 3Ghz Ci7 but no one is taking into account the fact that you can take a 2.66Ghz Ci7 all the way to 4Ghz EASY, even with the locked multiplier. I ran a stable 4Ghz for over 3 hours on air until it finally got to the point where I didn't want to push it anymore. With liquid cooling 4Ghz is cake. Also consider that there are NO mobos that support tri-channel ddr3 for the X4 and it's a no brainer. 800 bucks for an x4 setup or 1000 for a Ci7 that blows it away.
