Better than the vent mount
I bought two of these. One as the vent mount type and the weighted dash mount. It does take up a larger space than I expected and came with a smaller mount unit than the vent mount style, but works fine with dash cameras (small type), radar detectors, and cell phones or PDA's. It will rotate to nearly any position and stays well in place while driving. In fact much better than the vent mounted version. I haven't tried it on the motorcycle as yet, and may attach a safety strap to the base until I see if it can remain in place or not. But for passenger cars or trucks, it works very well and seems to hold both the bracket and pad in proper positions once set.
