crap do not buy

Great product
Plugged it into the side of my laptop and it installed without a problem. Plugged my camcorder into it and downloaded my video in record time. Would highly recommend this card if you have an express card slot.

THIS IS THE ANSWER.
If you are trying to use a high-end audio production setup with a laptop, and your firewire card isn't working, or if you're getting digital artifacts, crackling, etc., this card is the answer. As I understand it, it's because it is one of the few on the market that has a T I chipset. I had a VERY expensive laptop with a VERY sophisticated digital audio system and the laptop fire-wire card built into the laptop was not capable enough. Replaced it with this one, and... VIOLA! perfection. Drivers installed automatically, didn't have to change any settings, no configuration necessary - it JUST WORKED. I will recomment this card to all my audiophile and producer friends!!!

Works as promised
Teen daughter had no problem getting it to work. Needed it because we were sold a computer that said it had firewire in the ad - but no firewire. She got her video on the laptop with no problem.
