I wish I'd read the one star reviews
Apparently, the quality of the product is erratic. The unit was rated 4.3 and the first reviews on the page were all stellar five stars. After reading the first few of them, I decided to purchase the hardware. The unit hardware seemed okay. Different sizes 2.5'' and 3.5'' and storage capacities fit well. On W7 and XP boxes, the USB connection read ''Mass Storage Device Connected'' and the device attachment dialog said the unit was ''OK.'' On both boxes: Computer Mgmt, Disk Mgmt recognized the drives, but with zero initial storage capacity. The drives were not recognized by Win Explorer. Again, I wish I'd read the one star reviews.

Works, but...
Works as described, but I've had problems with mine shutting down my USB ports. Maybe it is because this is a USB 3.0 device, but on my iMac it will get disconnected and then I'll have to restart the computer to get that USB port working again. It doesn't do it all the time, just occasionally. Haven't tried it on my PC yet.

Easy to use
Rescued the internal hard drive from a defunct laptop, and continued using that 3.5-inch hard drive with this dock as an external hard drive. Perfect!

Clever Device
Had to pull a SATA drive out of an external enclosure to trouble shoot it. This contraption was so awesome and easy to use, and it worked like a charm. And it works with 2.5 and 3.5 inch drives. It makes using cheaper internal HDDs feasible for backups. It also looks good on your desk. Great price for such features and value.
