Hi. My Systemax desktop system with 3 gigs of memory arrived in good shape and works fine, but it is soooo slow. It is slower to open windows, open emails, switch to another tab, etc than my old machine, which was four years old and a much slower, single core processor. What could be causing this? I am running XP home edition, SP3.Brian Question by

Try to check how many applications you have on start-up or in the system tray. If you have many applications that have to be initialized during start-up, that may contribute to longer boot up time. Answer by

I think this is being redundant, but I have Win XP home edition, never used. I know how to use nLite to slipstream SATA drivers into a new install disk.1) I want to be assured that this system has the 32-bit Win XP SATA driver, or a pointer to where I can download it, and that MS XP Home Edition will install on it.2) The specs for this motherboard say it supports up to 2 PATA HDDs. Can it be set up to boot from one of them instead of the SATA?Thanks Question by

Some people have mentioned XP not having SATA drivers. Yet many have posted reviews stating that they installed XP and this system worked out of the box. I am curious if I will have issues using XP, Does everyone have to slipstream the drivers or is this only an occasional problem for XP users? Question by

Windows XP does not have SATA drivers. The easiest way to install XP on a SATA hard drive is to slipstream the SATA driver. Another way is to boot through USB and have the SATA drivers installed first before going through the installation of XP. Answer by

Yes, you may install Windows Home Server on this computer. If it is going to be just a repository, you will just have to augment its storage capability to be able to facilitate the volume of files it has to keep. Answer by

If the software came on it's own disc I imagine you could install it on a separate system but if the software came pre packaged on a system disc or a factory restore disc then I don't think you would be able to use it here. Answer by

You could look for the Windows XP disc that has the SATA drivers slipstreamed or you could also slipstream the SATA drivers yourself. Walk-throughs on how to slipstream the SATA drivers are available on the internet. Answer by
