It's the quietest drive I ever seen. It's very fast too. I own a WD 80GB with 8 meg cache. The difference in performance isn't very noticeable.

With hyper-threading and the access is lightening fast. I already, have used about 40 gig of storage on my second drive and have not experienced any problems. While Western Digital, and Maxtor are great products, my decision was purely driven by an economic motive. I would recommend Seagate to anyone who wants a great drive with an even better price. If you check Seagate's site, you'll learn that Seagate is a major player in all forms of storage drives.

I'm not to familiar with the name brand Seagate when it comes to hard drives. I was always using the bigger names like Maxtor, and Western Digital. Since I was in need of another hard drive for another computer I was building I went ahead and purchased it (trying to save some money), and I have to admit I'm really impressed with the speed and how silent this hard drive is. If your thinking about getting this drive, I'm telling you're not going to be disappointed!
