Can you back up a Macbook laptop and a Windows XP Dell laptop at the same time? Because, I know my Macbook requires a certain format of the hard drive, and I am wondering if this will limit the hard drive to only a Mac, or a PC. Question by

I tried to reformat this drive to Mac (Journaled) using the Disk Utility that comes with Apple OS. Very shortly into the format, it failed. Since then, the drive makes a ''ticking'' sound as long as it's powered on, and no software I've tried so far can mount it. Any suggestions? Question by

I have a mac running OSX 10.3 but the specs says you need 10.4, has anyone run it on OSX 10.3 or do you know if it will work? I'm not interested in the software which I think might be the requirements, it's in a sense just a usb hardrive so I would assume it would work fine. Question by

The spindle speed of this product is 7200 RPM. Although this product has an power switch, it is recommended that you “safely remove” it first before turning it off. Answer by

Sure is. As long as your computer is able to boot from an external USB drive, you can do it.Check your computer BIOS to be sure you have the option. Most do. Answer by

It doesn't come with any software. Drivers are not required during installation as the supported operating systems should detect it automatically. Answer by

Do you have a TiVo? Some people use the brand name of TiVo to describe any DVR. Kind of like people say Band-Aid or Kleenex when they could say bandage or tissue. The reason I ask is because if you have a DirecTV HR21 DVR, you can plug an eSATA drive into the front USB port and have extra storage. The caveat is that the internal drive is disabled when using an external drive. My HR21 has a 750gb drive, so using an external 1gb drive only gives me an extra 250gb of space. But, when you remove the external drive, the internal still works as it was left. So, fill the internal drive, then hookup the eSATA drive. When you want to watch what is on the internal drive, simply remove the external unit. Also, to plug the eSATA drive into the unit, you have to power down and unplug. Then connect the drive and restart the DVR. To get the internal drive working again, power down and unplug the DVR and then unplug the drive. Restart the DVR. The unplugging part is important. TiVo expanders are to be connected through eSATA and are not meant (as recommended by TiVo) to be disconnected and plugged to other boxes due to the possibility of file deletion. The USB port on the TiVo boxes are meant for networking. If you intend to add storage space on your TiVo, it is recommended that you acquire their expanders. Another option, though it is not highly recommended, is to physically upgrade the hard drive of your TiVo. Try to go to this site for more information on TiVo box upgrades: http://tivo.upgrade-instructions.com/index.php Answer by
