If you want a compact emailer/web surfer to carry in your briefcase the Acer Aspire is it. As a Net Book it does what it is supposed to. Bad points: Peripherals - It absolutely refused to work with my Canon Pixma IP 90 & IP 1500 printers or Epson 4870 scanner after numerous attempts to make that happen and will only recognize 1 out of my 10 USB flash drives. My other laptops & desktop had no problem with the above mentioned peripheral devices or drives. My rating for this Acer Net Book .....7 out of 10.

Pretty decent chunk of technology for the money - I bought the 16GB solid state model. There are some weaknesses, though. The wireless adaptor is limited in speed, and requires some time spent fixing the bad driver. The left SD slot is flaky - not a precisely made slot and it does not properly engage the included 8 GB card. Bonus: there is a 2nd SD slot so you can increase storage. The blue finish is very dark - not vivid like the pictures. It looks black at night. I am using it for running itunes radio and a slide show for marketing within our business. GREAT VALUE for $299 I paid (no HDD model).

Small, light and great for what the wife does, check email and a little pattern work for her wood projects. Installing programs is a breeze with a jump drive battery actually holds up for about 6 1/2 hours of constant use. If you need to install from CD's tiger has great prices on USB DVD drives also. Great work Acer as good as a full size laptop once you get used to the small screen but hey that's why you bought it so it was small and light to carry around when you need it. Jeff

Picked it up last week for the kids. LOVE IT! Very fast start-up (even with XP). Does everything you need for quick surfing. Needed to apply latest XP drivers for Atheros WiFi card and switch Linksys router from B to Mixed B/G mode to resolve wireless performance and stability issues. Now, screaming fast. Wireless ''power switch'' is baffling, not sure why they included it. Keyboard takes a little getting used to, but not unusable. Not a fan of the bilingual keyboard (extra symbols), but can live with it. Small screen can be tiring if you have poor reading vision (seniors, etc.). 6-Cell battery is definitely worth the extra weight and cost.
