fine scanner
Scanning pictures so far, I do intend on scanning negatives and slides also. I am starting to understand the software a little better now. Good results so far.

HP Scanjet G3110 flatbed photo scanner
Instruction manual is not easy to follow nor covers the product operation very well. The only way I can scan without getting the slide holder into the scan, is to place a blank sheet of paper over what I am trying to scan. I looked through the manual and have not yet found how to get a clean scan, without putting a blank sheet of paper over my target to be scanned. There is a problem with the power cord. If it is plugged into a power strip, surge protector, or extension used, the scanner does not work. It not clear in the set up that the power cord MUST BE PLUGGED DIRECTLY INTO THE WALL. I spent a lot time with the HP tech to figure out what the issue was These currently are the only issues that I have with the system.

Not impressed
Does not retain the proportions of the item being scanned - 4 by 7 p.b. scans as something like 3 by 8. Also, reproduction is not very sharp.

Good Scanner, Bad Software
The OS likes the drivers. The scanner is slower than molasses, but it works well and it always works. The software is a hindrance more than a help. It loads slow. It runs slow. For the most part it's obfuscatory. I wiped the installation, reinstalled the drivers, and I'm now able to work much faster using proprietary imaging software.

Pretty good scanner
I replaced an older Canon flatbed with this one and it works great. Only con about it is the ridiculous amount of HP software required to install and operate it. But that's the same with all HP stuff. It's a good scanner for the price though and pretty easy to operate.

Easy To Use....
Just purchased this scanner and have nothing bad to say about it. Neat features, more advanced than my old-faithful HP 2200 and an inclusive program that includes both my HP scanner and stand-alone HP laser color printer in it - a great feature and no other program needed. VISTA would NOT recognize my old HP 2200 scanner so I searched for another. I am convinced that HP is the best for scanners and printers. I also have a Compaq-HP Laptop that works great - love it - using it now. Oh yah, Laser is the way to go!!

Mac user
I really like this scanner. However sometimes my buttons won't work and I have to do the scan manually also my HP program is kind of slow it. I dont think they spent much time when creating the program for mac version. I have had this scanner for over a month already and those are the only problems I run into. other than that its a great scanner and I would still recommend it
