My best hard drive so far.
Swapped 1 year old 5400 80 GB to this one. Result: quieter (don't feel it at all), faster, same battery consumption, more reliable on the go (shakes and such). Using it for 6 mnths already.

Listen up, Great Deal
Bought this to replace a 7200 RPM drive that was in my laptop, I thing it was 2mb Catching, but this one has a huge 16MB. This makes a huge difference for laptops. i freaking love the speed, my OS installed onto it in less then 10Mins :)

BEST REPLACEMENT DRIVE EVER!
I have a Gateway laptop and I went through 5400RPM hard drives like ice cream pop sickles to a 5 year old... I had so much media to keep track of and edit and the hard drives I had weren't built for it. So I did get me an external 400Gig but that was hard to lug around, so I bought this Hitachi here and I was utterly amazed! It's durable, FAST, and it can withstand the road.. Now as for the laptop not so much.. But I won't tell you the manufacturer since you'll criticize your mindful opinions.. GET THIS DRIVE! You'll never regret it.

So far so good
Awesome drive. Fast, quiet and not too hot. I've been using Hitachi 7200rpm since IDE. There is Seagate 7200.3 or 7200.4 comparable drive that seems to have faster performance. You may want to consider them, but I believe the quality from Hitachi.

Great for a Macbook
I purchased this drive roughly 6 months ago for a 13'' MB (white poly) replacing the stock 160GB 5400rpm drive. Noticeable increase in performance with no noticeable decrease in battery life. Boot time was significantly decreased and apps loaded quicker. Drive was nice and quiet too. I'll be purchasing another one of these for a new MB Pro instead of the Seagate Momentus (500GB 72k) due to the occasional poor reviews I've read regarding those drives (loud, slow, hot).
