the CD drive was bad(said so on bottom of unit),

This Dell Laptop rocks! It came as advertised. Everything they said about this computer was correct. This machine did not show any signs of wear except for the labels on the bottom of computer. Everything worked right out of the box and activating Windows was a snap. This is my third computer that I've bought from here and I'm very satisfied. I'm already looking for another laptop for my wife as this one will be my stepson's. Thanks!!

I use this same model for work. I wanted a low price laptop for my Dad, and this fit the bill. It does not have the Dell diagnostic partition, but I had a Dell CD to test it out. The first laptop I received was a different model (used different memory). Diagnostics showed only half of the memory, and the fan did not work. Tiger was great with the RMA replacement. On both laptops, the screen was flawless, and the body is almost like new!
I'm a big fan of the trackpoint stick mouse built into the keyboard. This was the only Dell driver that was missing, but a quick download from Dell fixed that. If you don't like the stick, it can be disabled with the driver (I disable the touch pad).
It's not the latest and greatest hardware, but for my work and personal use it's still more than good enough. For my Dad's needs of internet surfing and photo printing, it's super! Consider adding a 1gig memory dimm when you order this. I may get another one for my son for his high school work. |
