I picked this capture device up to record play off an XBox. None of the reviews mentioned that I would need to buy splitter cables and a USB extension to do that. I had to do some online searching to figure that out. Once it is all connected, it does what it's supposed to.

Just what I needed

Just what I needed to pull my recordings off my DVR. Good software in Power Director and Power Producer. Works with other capture software as well. Easy to use, plug in your device, open power director, press play on my DVR and use the one-touch record button, or set the 'limit time' function in power director.

It's doing the job !

Bought it to capture the output signal of my video recorder and it does it very well. The bundled software are a bit complicated but I have not compare it to others so I will continue to explore it and figure out some of the features. It's all working well on Win7 so far, I recommend it !

Works Better Than i Expected

Really works great for capturing video off old Hi8 video cassettes using the camera as player. Device has saved me a fortune over having transfers done commercially, and the quality is very acceptable.

Good product, not perfect

I had to trade up from my older capture device because it did not work with Windows 7. This device is much smaller and easier to use. My only complaint is that the included software does not allow full screen. However, the plus side is that this device is not limited to proprietary software. I am using Debut Video Capture with very good success. I hope it will still work with the next version of Windows.

Great working easy to learn

I must start this by admitting I am the ordinary average guy. I have been interested in the process of video to the computer and other devices. I first bought the Pinnacle Dazzle - It so sucked my computer kept crashing, and during captures just locked up. But this device works awesome, and I am still learning all the features of the software. Opens up a whole world of video capture can now be played on i-pod or phone. Now I can watch Rambo while I am out with my wife's friends. This is great.

Hardware works, software less so

Hardware works as advertised; clean video and audio, though on my quad-core had to kill all background tasks to not have dropped frames. Supplied software does not recognize that both software suites are installed. Have a button on one piece of software that is supposed to call the other, but stated that it could not find the other software suite, although used the defaults for file location. Does the job, just not as well as it could have, software-wise.

Fantastic Little Device

I got this so that I could transfer movies from my Cablevision DVR to my hard drive, since my Cablevision box DVR could only hold 20 hours of HD movies. Once I connected the Cablevision DVR together with my laptop, the software immediately detected the video signal and a few more steps I was on my way to recording. Great value for the money!

Where is Mac?

A device that is advertised for Mac should be 100% compatible with Mac. This Item is only 33% for Mac. Otherwise is OK.

Works good

Works okay, but editing software works with Windows only. Yes, you can connect it to a Mac computer, but there is NO EDITING SOFTWARE for Mac platform. Search around for one that comes with Mac editing software, otherwise the Windows software works okay.
