These required powerful noise suppression algorithms for use in the most extreme acoustic noise environments including battlefields and helicopters. The algorithms use Jawbone's two microphones and the VAS to accurately model the noise environment.
Jawbone detects when and how a person is speaking, models the noise, and aggressively eliminates it.
Conventional "noise eliminating" headsets do not have the VAS and can only estimate when speech is occurring with software-based Voice Activation Detection (VAD) systems. For these systems to work, the speech must be significantly louder or spectrally different from the noise. These systems fail in loud environments or in the presence of other people's speech. Furthermore, because they can't accurately identify the speech signals, they distort the speech in the process of attempting to eliminate the noise. The result of this distortion is a significant degradation in intelligibility and quality in order to achieve a perceptual reduction in noise.

I have purchased many bluetooth headsets and they all have 1 thing in common. When it comes to hearing someone on the ther end while you are driving, they all suck. You have to put up your windows, turn off the head/AC and radio. Except for the JawBone.
With the JawBone, I was able to hear in any environment I was in. I went so far as sitting in from of my stereo spearker with the music turned up to a higher than normal level and was able to hear just as if they were in the same room. The person I was talking to said they could't hear the music at all.
I recently lost my JawBone and will be buying aother one very shortly from here. |

I bought the jawbone a month ago. I did much research before I bought. I need the noise cancelling in a noisy environment. I have tried it in similar situaions as shown on their website. This is a pretty good earpiece. The advertising is deceptive in my opinion. The unit that I have does NOT perform anywhere near what the videos show. Not even close. The person on the other end will hear plenty of background noise (people talking, etc.) If you are anywhere near noisy construction equipment, it will come through your call very loud. I called support for jawbone. Customer service was friendly. I proved to the operator that it did not work as advertised. He confirmed that the unit was working correctly. He could hear plenty of background noise. He said that I could order different earbuds to try to alleviate the problem. No other answer to the issue. I am a technically savvy user. This is a decent headset. Just don't buy expecting what jawbone is promoting. I am very dissappointed. |

I drive a truck for a living and most people have no idea just how noisy that environment is. I bought another brand of Bluetooth device and it was sheer disaster. I had to STOP driving and turn the truck off, so they could hear me. This Jawbone Bluetooth is, bar NONE, the BEST in class! The extra money you spend on it will be repaid when you DON'T lose that big sale, trust me. Hat's off to the gang that make these. |

I purchased one of these after reading a lot of positive reviews on them. Unfortunately I was very disappointed with this unit. I think it really depends of which cell phone (manufacturer/model) you're pairing it with. In my case it was a Samsung SGH-a516. The incoming sound quality was very good, but those I called and spoke to consistently told me the sound was very muffled and, it was hard to understand me (even when I was parked.) I left a msg. on my landline's voice mail and could hear for myself how crappy the outgoing sound quality was. Also, the over-the-ear attachments snap off and break very very easily. I returned it 2 days after purchasing it. If you don't want to be tethered to an in-ear headset, and just need something for your car, instead I'd recommend the BlueAnt Supertooth 3, wireless speaker kit, which attaches to your visor. It's vastly superior in terms of both incoming and outgoing sound quality and very easy to use. |

I have purchased several bluetooth earpieces. This is by far the GREATEST. I can talk in stores, with the windows rolled down, radio playing in the background and no one can hear the background noise. If you can get past the price, I highly recommend it. |
