Onkyo TXSR606B Black Home Theater Receiver
As part of the second generation of Onkyo high-definition-capable receivers,
the TX-SR606 is at the forefront of affordable home theater. The key is to have
the most capable version of HDMI. The TX-SR606 provides high-definition video
and audio processing for four source components—another first for Onkyo
at this level. From Blu-ray Disc players to gaming consoles and cable/satellite
boxes, you have everything in the digital realm covered. Apart from 1080p video,
the TX-SR606 can upscale all video signals to 1080i, regardless of the connection,
for output via HDMI. Onkyo’s own RIHD (Remote Interactive over HDMI) also
gives you inter-operability with the displays and playback components from other
leading brands. And with an expanded version of Audyssey’s room correction
technology, the TX-SR606 maintains the fullness of surround sound audio quality
at low volume levels. The TX-SR606 offers all-round excellence rarely seen at
this level.

I installed this receiver in my 28'x 15' home theater with 104'' screen with 7 speakers and 12'' powered subwoofer. I have have been using it for about one year. The sound just blows you away. My guests can't believe the sound. I have a friend that has spent thousands more on his home theater system envy the quality of sound I get from my system. You can not go wrong with Onkyo receivers. The SR606 in my opinion is the best home theater receiver in this price range on the market.
Solid product and a great deal

I research for numerous months for a receiver that would provide me the total home theater receiver package. Onkyo TXSR606B provided the power, quality sound/features and had the 4 HDMI(not pass thru). The low cost and excellent sound play a major role in my decision and it was everything that was expected. I added Infinity 1200 speakers 5.1 channel system and movies and my various types of music really comes alive. This is a must if you are connecting TV cable box and some of your older types of components that needs upgrades sound processing. A great mid level home theater receiver with big sound and easy on the wallet.

Product rating is based on my research. I just purchased on and its on its way. I was trying to decide between the Onkyo 506 and 606. Everything looked basically the same except 606 had 4 HDMI and the 506 had 3. There is one more difference that really important to look at before buying .
''On the TX-SR506, audio signals received by the HDMI IN jacks are output only by the HDMI OUT (pass thru). HDMI sources are not output by the speakers connected to the AV receiver.'' (Page 21 of the manual)
On the 606 you can set it either to be processed by the receiver or as a pass-thou. This is a must if you are connecting Dish and some of the lower cost BLU-RAY

I bought this unit (silver one vs black) after too-much research! This should have been the best unit on the market! I (and Onkyo) have now determined that mine has a problem! BTW, I have spent over 16 hours fine-tuning all of the configurations on the unit!
There is a great feature (hoping) that when you connect a component, say a DVD, this Onkyo has a 'display button' that when after the specific 'Source Button' is selected, THEN pushing the Display... the receiver screen displays 'what the signal is' (sent from the componant)! Unfortunately, finally configuring all 4 components to this Onkyo, and 45 days later... no matter WHICH source I select, the display advises that it is seeing a ''pcm fs: 48Khz'' signal... that means, no Dolby/THS ect... Onkyo said I should ship it back to an auth. dealer (at my expense, they will return it free). I asked: My concern is that this problem is pretty 'deep' and I think it will come back as: no problem found! yikes... I am very frustrate
