| Canon FS100 Flash Memory Camcorder Mini-DV tapes can get dirty, ruining your captured memories. Thankfully, you don’t have to endure that anymore. The Canon FS100 flash memory camcorder saves time by recording directly onto Secure Digital or SDHC memory cards. Even in its lightweight form factor, the camcorder is packed with loads of cool features so getting crisp, memorable videos would be as easy as ABC. It has 45x advance zoom, 37x optical zoom and 2000x digital zoom. With these zoom features, capturing subjects and scenes even from a good distance won't result to out-of focus and pixelated recording. The camcorder is designed with a 2.7-inch LCD screen, a 1/6-inch CCD sensor and a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery
Equipped with Canon's Advanced Zoom technology, the camcorder records distant subjects and subjects in motion with crystal clarity. It magnifies up to 45 times so you won’t have to get in close yourself. It captures images at 1152x684-pixel resolution while videos are recorded at 640x480-pixel resolution at 30 frames per second. Audio is recorded in 2-channel Dolby Digital. Its focal length reaches up to 96.2mm. Its shutter speed ranges from 1/6 to 1/2000 of a second. Meanwhile, its aperture size can range from f/2.0 to f/5.2. It provides white balance control (automatic, daylight and tungsten) and has a variety of shooting modes, including sunset, portrait, fireworks, sport, spotlight and night, to help users set the mode and the theme of every recording. It can also be set in continuous shooting mode.
Aside from taking great videos, the Canon FS100 also takes high-quality digital stills and has Auto Exposure Bracketing, continuous shooting and a histogram display. DIGIC DV II improves color reproduction and optimizes the quality of pictures.
To easily transfer files, you can connect to a computer through its high-speed USB 2.0 port. The unit is bundled with a battery charger and a Pixela ImageMixer application that assists in organizing , playing and editing your video clips. It also helps in converting video files to other alternative file formats and provides DVD creation features.

Nice, inexpensive camera
I've had this camera for several months now, and used it a lot. I like it. It's just what I expected; an inexpensive (not cheap!), easy-to-use video camera. Okay, so it doesn't do theater-quality image or surround sound, but read the specs, people. It does exactly as advertised, and does it with a minimum of fuss and bother. All right, yeah, the packaged software ain't that great. Tell me a camcorder that comes with software that is worth a flip, especially in this price range! Just download the videos, change the file name extension to mpg, and you're good to go! Any decent video editing software can easily deal with it then. Oh - and for those who complained about the quality of the stills: excuse me, but it is a video camera! Taking stills with a video camera is just for those times when you can't take your 15 megapixel still camera with you. Don't expect a video camera to take stills that can be blown up to poster size and still look good!

So far so good. Takes good clear video and great sound. The enclosed software doesn't work on Mac or Microsoft computers. Just take the card out and use a card reader to get the movies on your computer. (The card I have is an 8 gig, class 6 card) Video files not compatabile with my Mac, however, a freeware converter plays the files fine. The price is right and easy to use. If you don't have a video camera ... get one.

Wow, when I recharged this camcorder I turned it on, duh. I went to see how much memory was left, to find 2 videos on it already. The first video was on a real encounter with a Mammoth, the second on the other hand was a little disturbing...I will not mention it on this website. If you truly want to know email me and ask...bob_1345@gmail.com *PLEASE NOTE I WON'T GET BACK TO YOU RIGHT AWAY* This camera zooms in and out so I cant video squat...Where does my money go for these things?!?

I love the camers but I do not understand how to get my videos off. I have installed the software and it still is hard. I still have not got my videos off. I need help with that.

Bought mine for the family for Christmas '08. We've taken video of sunrises at the beach, more than a hundred pictures and first steps of my first grandchild. Easy to operate. Easy to transfer to PC. Let your kids take all the pictures they want. A great deal!! Jhart
